Item Worked for what I needed.
I purchased this device to get information off of very old hard drives from my father's computer. He passed away in 2007 and his computer was purchased a few years before that. He had two hard drives in that computer. The boot drive which was a Seagate Baracuda Sata 80 Gb hard drive, and would no longer boot the computer. The other hard drive was a Western Digital Caviar 205BA IDE 25 Gb drive that I did not know if it would work or not. I had tried to get data off the SATA boot drive with another docking station model for SATA devices that I have but it would not connect, so I purchased this device because it was IDE and I could try to recover data off the other drive. Well it took a whole week for it to get here (and it was a prime item). While I waited, I read the description of the drive on Amazon (I attached an image). It specifically said that the IDE port "does not work with Western Digital hard drives". I almost cancelled the order. When it finally arrived, I opened it up and checked the contents against the instruction manual (attached an image) and noticed that the USB cable to connect it to a computer was not in the box. So, I thought, not a problem, because I have many cables. But, the instruction manual says it has a mini USB 2 cable. The USB port on the back of the device is a regular USB 2 port (see picture attached), just like on any computer! I have never seen a device with a full size USB (A) port. Usually they are either mini USB ports or USB (B) ports. I have over 30 device cables in my drawer but not one with the same USB 2 type (A) males that this device required. So I was going to send it back, but I found the cable I needed at work so I was able to get it connected.I put in the Western Digital drive into the IDE slot and expected it to not function when I turnned the device on (because they said it would'nt). But the directory listing popped up within about 5 seconds from turning it on. I got the data I need off that hard drive. Then I inserted the Seagate hard drive (the old boot drive) and it also worked as well (my other docking station would not read it). I was able to get what I needed off of that as well. So the hassle I went through ended up being worth it for me.I did not test this drive for the other features because this was all I needed it for. I docked it one star for the design of the device having a regular USB 2 (A) port instead of a mini or USB 2 (B) type port. I docked another star because the Instruction manual and the information about the device on Amazon is very hard to understand. They should hire a somebody proficient in the eglish language to write their manuals and online information.

Not high quality breaks easily.
Low quality build cheep materials used to construct this item. Slots didn't align properly making it almost impossible to use and the flimsy plastic pieces broke off almost instantly. Definitely would never buy again.

Good hardware little to no support
Very difficult finding driver and support, you have to make sure to really dig through their site. Would not recommend for the average person. Overall good hardware though.

Terrible proprietary software. Don’t buy it.
The software was garbage. It would not recognize the dock no matter what. We tried two different computers and nothing.

works
Did what I wanted it to do, use my old internal drives now as external drives. :)

875J vs 875D
It was my mistake, but I thought I ordered the 875 J. I got the 875D, and while it came in one day which was nice. The link for the download was wrong and the directions in the booklet that came with the unit was not too helpful. The item worked as advertised, but again I thought it had all the features of the 875J
