We have battled barn swallows for the past 5 years but not since purchasing these!! It has completely deterred them.

We have had barn swallows nesting in the top of our front porch for 4 years. We finally said, this is enough of the mess eventhough we enjoy the babies when they first hatch, fly and return. We tried sprays and many ways to discourage them, but they are PERSISTANT!! I ordered the Bird-B-Gone strips. I washed all the dirt, mud off the wood, let it dry throughly, installed the strips very easily with just the adhesive and waited to see what the birds would do.They flew in and out for several days, but never tried to nest. The beauty of this product is the whispy look it gives our front porch and when the lights are on at night it really is pretty! We'll leave them up forever, we like the decor. These strips really work!!

Update, the swallows knocked down this junk and built their nest where it used to be. I reiterate, this is junk! So we installed these just outside our front door where the barn swallows nest each year. About an hour after the installation, I see a barn swallow sitting on the start of a brand new nest, directly behind the little strings, (which is just fishing line by the way) and I swear that flipping bird smiled at me. Well year after year I have to wait until the little birds hatch and defecate all over the brick and the porch and then I get to power wash the leftovers and bathe in their filth. This product deterred nothing! I knocked a full blown nest down today and the birds are constantly flying in and out (no eggs, don’t panic). What a total waste. The product stayed in place but the birds used it as a curtain so they could make more birds behind it. My suggestion is get your own fishing line and hang a few for less than a buck.

Bottom line - this product works! We have had barn swallows for a few years now and I had tried all the tricks and hacks I could find (fake snake, aerosol spray, swatting at them, balloons). I was desperate and annoyed, so I bought these strips. I was very disappointed when I opened the package - it seems to be just a strip of heavy duty packing tape and fishing line, but I had been battling three years of barn swallows and refused to allow them to win. Upon further inspection though, the “strip of heavy duty packing tape” is more like a very sticky piece of acrylic. It’s very thick and sturdy not exactly like packing tape.My husband stuck these on the ceiling of our front stoop (see picture). Very simple. Attached as easily as expected. No concern that the strips will detach any time soon. Instantly, the birds attempted to swoop in to “their spot” in the corner of our porch, but the STRIPS WORKED!!! They turned and went another direction and they haven’t been back since!!! Amazing!!! Yes, simple technology here, but it’s worth it to get rid of the pesty and relentless birds!!!The price is worth every single penny. The pieces of clear string are about 10-14 inches - they vary in length.

I bought these over a year ago and they work great! I literally saw a bird that was trying to nest under my eaves fly away the moment is saw/felt the strings. Big bonus that it is hardly visible.

I purchased the Bird B Gone MMSWALLOW Swallow Shield, Clear to keep the barn swallows from nesting and perching on my sprinkler and light fixtures on my porch and patio. I cleaned the areas thoroughly of the waste and nest particles left by the birds and also the ceiling above the sprinkler and light fixtures with disinfectant cleaner. I allowed the cleansed areas to dry completely before placing the product 1 inch from the wall on the ceiling above the sprinkler and light fixtures. This product really does the job of keeping the barn swallows away and without being an eyesore! A very simple solution to a big problem. I wholeheartedly recommend this product!However, I did give 4 stars for “Easy to install” because, as were stated in a couple other reviews, the tape over the adhesive was difficult to remove. Perhaps putting a tab on the tape would help make it easier to remove. Other than that, great product!

Unless you have experienced the frustration of swallows who have decided your house is theirs no matter what you do, you might not get it……..but this product is life changing. For the past few years they have repeatedly built their nests right over the door of my side porch. From May to September they are there. Constantly having to clean the porch of their nest materials. Poop all over the ledges and porch. Messy windows. I have repeatedly knocked down nests in the morning to have them fully rebuilt hours later. And the nests stain and are impossible to remove without scrubbing/power washing. Fake owls, whirly gigs, spikes, shiny discs. Nothing worked more than a day or two before they were back AND they all looked awful. I’d tried everything else so went looking (again) and found BirdBGone. I ordered enough to line over the door of the covered porch to try it out. I am a 66 year old woman who standing on a step ladder affixed the panels to the ceiling easily by myself using the attached adhesive. The clear panels blend in nicely to the painted ceiling and the monofilament brushes by the front of the door ledge. Up close it doesn’t stand out but if you look up you notice the line. Once you get a few feet away it blends in nicely. For the rest of the day the birds drove themselves crazy trying to fly at the ledge, encountering the fishing line, and flying off. Could it truly be this easy after all these years? They gave up on the door and stayed on the adjacent window. I immediately ordered enough to do it as well. Next day I had it covered and one month later not a single bird has settled (or pooped) on the porch! All remnants of the nests have been scrubbed away and it has remained that away. FYI we live in the Midwest where we have had several weeks recently of 100° temperatures. The panels are just as securely attached as the day they were installed. I will never be without this product!
