I was learning to crochet and found the way many yarns split made for difficulties. This yarn does not split so is much better for very basic practice.I thoroughly recommmend it for learning, but it is not the kind of yarn - in my opinion - that you would want to make a garment from - ideal for small decofrative projects though.

Overall this is a good crochet kit for beginners but it is a bit disappointing in that it is quite limited in terms of what you can actually make and do with it. The yarn comes in the same colour (in this case grey) and you also get a crochet hook, stitch holders and instructions. I expected this kit to come in a box with a few more additions to it however there are no other accessories that come with it. Therefore, if you do want to make one of the cute amigurumi patterns detailed in the instructions booklet, then you need to purchase additional coloured yarn and accessories. As it stands, you can't really do much with only the grey yarn. The instructions booklet is quite good and helps you to start crocheting and there is also a QR code that links to some basic instructions. The quality of the yarn is very good. It is super soft! The crochet hook is also ergonomic with its silicon top and easy to use.

This yarn is really very lovely. It's a thicker style than others I've tried and, as a beginner to crochet, this makes it ideal to work with - although you're likely to love it just as much as an expert also.The yarn is super soft but at the same time it's much more stable than some of the thinner versions I've used. I particularly like that it doesn't split as you work, meaning you're able to more clearly see your stitches and work out where you are in a pattern. This has been invaluable at helping me improve my crochet skills as with some yarns I'm never really sure where to insert my hook when the stitches are close together. No problem at all with this style and it gives a much neater finish to your crocheting also, which is fantastic.I love the grey coloured set in particular and I'm busy looking up patterns for things I'd like to make with this pack. Very handily, it comes complete with a book of 10 patterns (a bit hard to follow for me at the moment but I'll get there soon), a set of stitch markers and a 3.5mm crochet hook. Absolutely perfect for getting started on things and there's also a link to some basic crochet skills via a QR code in the instructions.I also ordered a mixed coloured pack (black, white, pink) and I chose this one especially for the cat pattern it comes with as I have two boys who love cats and would be over the moon to find a little crocheted creature in their Christmas stockings this year. Like the grey set, you get 3x 50g balls of yarn, another set of stitch markers and a crochet hook, plus the pattern instructions for the cat. This set has a QR code link included specifically for the cat crochet tutorial and this is fantastic for me as I'm much more of a visual learner than a pattern follower at this stage in my crochet skill development.Whichever coloured set you go for, it will be a lovely purchase for yourself or to gift to a lover of crochet. I'll be sure to be back for some more of this CrochetBox yarn myself when I next need a top up as I'm incredibly impressed with it so far and it's good value for the quality at the same time. The product was good, good colour choice, wasy use, soft, all in all really good but the skiens were much smaller than i anticipated

This is a great set for a crochet beginner, or near-beginner. The yarn itself is a good thickness, single weave, and isn’t inclined to fray. The hook provided is a great size, better than the one I’d already bought separately on this site. For the materials, it is a great frustration-reducing, entry-level set for somebody thinking of picking up crochet for the first time. It’s suitable for kids too. There are cheaper ways to buy three small balls of yarn, but the quality compensates adequately for the value.The accompanying booklet isn’t for beginners, but it is a lot of fun. Instead of being “how to crochet” basics, instead it’s a set of ten different instructions for making ten different cutesy characters, ranging from an axolotl to a cheeseburger plus some slightly more sensible ones like a panda and a frog. The instructions are printed very small, so a lot of detail is packed into a small booklet- but unfortunately this does make it rather difficult to read, especially if you’re trying to treat crochet as relaxing rather than a job to be done at a desk. The results are certainly cute though. There are some minor lapses in attention to detail in the booklet unfortunately- for example the “fried potato sticks” (presumably an auto-translate that could’ve been “fries” or “chips”) is listed as “fried potato sicks” [sic]. But besides the tiny font size, it’s mostly quite well presented.If I were marking the instruction booklet on its own, I’d give it four stars, for some lovely ideas but not being easy to read or beginner-friendly. But the quality of the yarn and the tools convinces me that this is a five star set overall.
