Does the finish easily blemish, darken, stain?

No blemish, darkening or staining.....but, this skillet is heavy, awkward to wash in a standard double sink and the cord could be a bit longer.

Is there a warranty on this electric skillet

Accepted Answer

Yes, there is a warranty.  BUT you have to pay for shipping of your old unit back and new unit to you (~$25 total out in Seattle).  AND...if your warranty replacement unit has the exact same problem out of the box as the original, you have to pay shipping on both units AGAIN.  I ran into this issue.  Rather than be "out" another $50 and roll the dice that the 3rd unit would work, I chose to buy a $35 Presto unit that has worked amazing since I got it.

Question 3

Does it hold the temperature while cooking - such as fried chicken?

Accepted Answer

No. Like most electric skillets, it regulates temperature by cycling on and off. It's sad because the size and quality of the materials would otherwise make it perfect for frying, but you have to stand by it and constantly play tricks (like turning it on and off repeatedly) to keep the heat on longer. If you want high quality fried chicken or other foods that require a long frying period, this will not work. I also find that making a large batch of pancakes doesn't work for the same reason-- the other reason I bought this item! The pancakes that happen to be on the skillet while the heat is on come out great, the next one to go on where the heat cycles off in the middle of cooking comes out looking sad and takes longer to cook, drying it out. Cuisinart-- upgrade your design to allow continuous heat and I'll buy this again in heartbeat! Works great for stews, braises, and anything that doesn't require precise temp control.

How can i  get the electric cord for a cuisanart cks-150 elec. skillet?
