This product works, as designed. The problem is that it is advertised as having a back up battery. However, the fountain is only powered by the battery, not by the solar cell. So, the unit charges the battery, which runs the fountain. When the battery is drained, it stops running. In our garden, in bright sunshine, the unit turns off and on about 4 times a day. A couple of hours to charge, an hour of running time, etc. Why the pump doesn’t run directly from the solar cell is a design mystery!

I did not keep the pump, but gave it to a friend it turned out to not be practical for what I wanted, but it is still a good quality product. It did not it was supposed to,

I purchased the solar fountain pump with the back up battery as my yard is mostly in the shade. If I put the solar pump in the sun to charge to battery during the day we are able to enjoy an hour, or more, of the fountain working well even in the shade or the evening.

This pump does not work at all. It has been out in the sun for two days and hasn't pumped a drop of water.

I have set the pump to charge for over the time indicated and it only works for a couple of hours under full sun.
