Comfortable, supportive, takes some getting used to for side sleepers
I’ve been using this pillow for about a week and I’m still trying to figure out which direction I prefer to use it. I am predominantly a side sleeper, though I do sleep on my back sometimes too. The wider end is better for sleeping on my back, but the narrower end feels better for side sleeping. I can get away side sleeping on the wider end too, but that end doesn’t have quite the right shape for my shoulder. It’s annoying having to turn the whole pillow around when switching between side and back sleeping so I’m trying to get used to using the wide end exclusively. What I can say so far is that even though it feels like a firm pillow, it’s actually very comfortable. My old pillow would sometimes hurt my ear but this one doesn’t. It’s definitely not a fluffy feather-soft experience that your head will sink into, but I like it anyway. There’s less hunting around for the ideal support thanks to its molded shape. Another thing I can talk about is pain reduction. I have a really stupid, inexplicable habit of stretching in the morning before I get up and tweaking one of my neck/shoulder/back muscles. In the past, I would have a stiff neck for at least a week. I did it again just a few days ago and I think this pillow helped. I could move a lot more with less pain than previously, and my neck was totally better after 2 nights. I think it’s a good pillow overall. For me, I just have to get used to it more. I definitely wouldn’t pay more than the $40 I paid for it though. If I spent over $100 on a pillow, I better be getting perfect sleep every night from day 1.

Overly Firm, not proportioned well for shorter head-to-neck lengths, didn't relieve shoulder pain.
I've been using this pillow every night for just over a month now since I purchased it. I'm giving it 3 stars because the pillow itself is well made, arrived right on time and came in perfect condition, but it turns out that this pillow just isn't for me. (Disclaimer - I bought this pillow along side a special 4in Cooling Gel Memory Foam topper with a 2in Down pillow topper for my mattress to try and double-team my shoulder pain and discomfort issues, so this pillow was tested out in tandem with those mattress toppers over the course of a month.) Reason why I bought this pillow: - I have significant shoulder pain and discomfort throughout the night when sleeping, I struggle with neck support that doesn't go flat or bunch up behind my head throughout the night, and I am 100% a side-sleeper and I have sensitive ears as well, so pressure on my ears from the usual pillow-types causes my ears to ache. This has been prevalent for me since I was in my late 20s (now in my late 30s). This pillow boasted relief in many of these areas, was moderately priced, and I had not tried a pillow like this before. Results: - From night one, after allowing the pillow to fluff out for the recommended 24-48 hours, I didn't notice any significant difference in my shoulder pain and discomfort and the unusual shape and contour of this pillow had me adjusting around a lot the first night trying to figure this pillow out. It wasn't clear at first which side of the pillow was the top and the bottom or how to position my arm but I did figure it out by looking at the instructions! - After a week, I was still not noticing a significant difference in my shoulder pain and discomfort. There was a slight difference but I still tossed and turned quite a bit due to shoulder pain on each side. - After 3 weeks I decided to flip the pillow and see if using it upside-down helped. While it initially felt more comfortable, the top end of the pillow was significantly more flat and the arm positioning didn't line up right so that didn't end up working. -After a full month, I've switched back to my last pillow - which still doesn't do much for me but at least it is softer. -This pillow is advertise for people with a head-to-neck base length of ≤10.75 inches and shoulder width of ≤21.6 inches. I am just under 10in for head-to-neck and I felt like my neck just wasn't long enough to fit this pillow's intended design properly - just a word of caution for anyone that isn't long-necked. - My biggest complaint about this pillow is that it is super DUPER firm. While I am used to medium-to-firm pillows so I can gain extra support without it going flat, this was by far the hardest pillow I've ever slept on and it doesn't get softer throughout the night either, just stays super hard. Because of this, it did nothing for my ear discomfort either. The firmness only pushed back against my ears, instead on contouring to them and because my neck is a bit too short, it put more pressure on my shoulders then it relieved. - It's also much smaller then a standard-sized pillow so its not very aesthetically pleasing to look at on the bed with all my other normal sized pillows (yup, I'm one of those people with a bazillion pillows on my bed, haha!). This is a small thing though and if this pillow worked like I'd hoped, I'd over-look this aesthetic issue 100%, but it didn't. Pros: 1. Well made, doesn't lose shape or go flat (at least in the 1 month of continuous use I had). 2. Moderately priced at 39.99 (got mine on sale). 3. Arrive right on time. 4. Love the sides of the pillow that hold up your hand and forearm for slide sleepers. That aspect was very comfortable for my hand and forearm positioning. 5. While I wouldn't say it was particularly "cooling", it wasn't particularly hot either, so heat distribution was decent.

Life changing purchase!
I had been suffering from a sore neck for months and could not figure out what was causing it. I like a soft pillow so that I can lay on my back but when I do lay on my side I like it firm so my head is elevated. I had been folding the end of my soft pillow when laying on my side throughout the night for a long time. One night I was in bed and it dawned on me to search Amazon for neck pain pillow and this is the first item that showed up. It’s a bit on the expensive side for a pillow, based on my previous pillows, but I bought it and it arrived the next morning. The first night was rough. I couldn’t get used to having to keep my head in the center. The next couple nights were barely better, and I was still thinking of returning it. Again, it’s a complete mindset change from many years past of my pillow experience. But about a week in I realized my neck pain was almost gone. What?! I was stunned. I kept forcing myself to use it and after a few days it became second nature and I was totally used to it. My neck pain was gone. I was in disbelief. The pillow provides the right amount of support while on my back and also when on my side. I love it!! Been using it for a couple months now and couldn’t be happier. I have just been using my regular pillow cover for it. No issues whatsoever. I may get the fitted pillow cover but for now it’s fine. I also looked at several other brands and decided this one is the best for my needs. I do use cpap, it that it really matters, but figured I’d mention it for reference. I am very very happy with this purchase!

Things you need to know before you buy one
There are a couple of things you need to know about this pillow before you buy one or consider buying one. First off, this is a $30-$40 pillow, not some $100+ on sale for a limited time. Don't be fooled. Secondly, this is NOT a memory foam pillow. It's just foam (relatively stiff) with a fairly nice, washable cover. Third, while it looks like a really great design, the distance from the edge of the pillow where your shoulders will contact it, is too far from the indentation where your head should rest. If you are tall and have a long neck, you might get it to work. Fourth, there is the impression that you could lay your head on this pillow from either the 'top' or the 'bottom'. Nope. There is a tapered portion on the 'correct' side and a sharp edge on the other. Had the other been ramped like the 'correct side, it might have worked because the distance to that sweet spot is where your head should lay, is closer to the edge. Except it digs into your neck. This falls into the category of 'Looks great', your results may vary. Two starts for washable outer pillow case. I really can't recommend it.

Not for side sleepers
The Good: The pillow seems to be very well made. The materials are nice, the shape is kind of cool, and it didn't have a strong, weird stench like many memory foam pillows do. It does fit in a normal pillow case although the instructions and pictures imply you're supposed to just use it as is and wash the existing case. I don't sleep on my back, but I did briefly try that position and the pillow does seem pretty comfortable for back-sleeping. In fact, it seems like it was made specifically for sleeping on your back. I can't speak to how comfortable it is for actual back sleeping, but I can imagine it being good in that case. The Bad: I was skeptical that this pillow would actually be suitable for any sleep style as claimed--how could a super-specialized shaped pillow work for stomach, back, and side sleepers at the same time? It can't, and I found it to be simply terrible for side-sleeping. The problem is that the part of the pillow where your neck would be is very firm and thick, but then the middle of the pillow is almost entirely indented with virtually no support, so you end up with the top of your head tilting down toward the bed (toward your shoulder) while your chin and neck are being firmly pushed up. It feels immediately awkward and uncomfortable. I gave it an honest shot anyway and did manage to sleep for about half the night on it, but after waking up, I just couldn't get comfortable enough to fall back asleep and slept the rest of the night on my normal pillow. The next morning I had a terrible crick in my neck that lasted all day. The instructions say the pillow is "adjustable" but there's no adjustment you can make to it as far as I can tell. The instructions don't say anything about adjusting it other than that it is adjustable. The only possible adjustment is unbuttoning the central button (which I tried), and that might let the indented center part expand slightly, but not enough to actually support your head. So I'm going to say that claim is bogus. Conclusion: As a side sleeper, this pillow simply didn't work for me. It wasn't because it is too firm like some other reviewers have complained about--it's because the shape is simply bad for side-sleeping. As much as I wanted to like this pillow and as quality as the materials seem to be, I had to return it.
