Samsungram memory 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800,1600MHz, 204 PIN, SODIMM for laptops

Arrived nicely packed in a cardboard sleeve containing a plastic memory caddy. It was just the right amount of packaging to keep it safe and secure and the only time (before or since) that an amazon package has fit through my letter box so +1 star for that!The memory is standard so no issues with fitting and it works perfectly in my laptop. It came with a little instruction leflet but I didn't read it so I can't comment on whether it is useful.

I used these to upgrade ram in a Samsung laptop. Easy to install (as would any others be). I ran memory testing afterwards and these checked out fine with no errors and at their stated speeds. All good.

As I understand it, you need 1Gb RAM to run Windows, Microsoft recommend 2Gb, and you get a substantial performance increase if you have 4Gb RAM (in 64 bit Windows, 32 bit versions of Windows can't use more than 3Gb). After that, you're soon into diminishing returns (which is why the likes of Dell sell PCs with 6Gb RAM). However, you can improve performance by installing matching pairs of DIMMs / SODIMMs, using both of the slots in each memory bank (so 2 x 4Gb SODIMMs is better than 1 x 8Gb) as you've increased the data bus access to the RAM.I ordered this SODIMM as a matching device for a nearly new PC, but it says 'Made in the Phillipines' on the one I received, rather than 'Made in China' like the one in the picture, and the one in my motherboard! Still, my PC can't tell the difference, because the RAM subscore on my Windows Experience Index has increased from 5.9 to 7.7; but I doubt total memory useage will go over 4Gb.

Ram like this is prone to snapping and mine did, it was probably the worst experience I had with a ram stick in all my years of pc building and I would 100% not recommended it. The quality was just bad and the only thing about this is just how cheap it was.

Upgraded my DDR3 RAM to 16GB on an older Dell Lattitude E6230 and the laptop runs Win10 super smooth and fast along with the SSD drive. Laptop is over 10 years old but still runs perfectly. I don't use it for heavy computing but streaming and multitasking is a breeze, no matter how many windows I have open. Good quality Samsung RAM chips.

Upgraded from 8 gbs to 16 gbs. Came as described and is working very well so far. I've now upgraded in recent months to a new Samsung 860 EVO SSD and this Samsung memory. My old laptop hums along !
