Is the Joystick on the wrong side?. I dont remember it being on the left side

I played it on Intellivision so the whole remote was different. This is either a joystick or it can be removed. I have one myself and I love it.

Is there a way to change the difficulty level? I can barely get past the first level.

No. It is very unforgiving. What I suggest: don't use the joystick, unscrew it and use the D-Pad. On level one, go all the way to the top, drop down the left bun, center bun, then go halfway on the right bun. Once a hot dog steps on the right bun, drop the bun down and you will crush a couple hot dogs. go all the way down in the corner, have the enemies follow you. Keep them out of the center area and don't waste your pepper. Level 2 is even harder.
