A very handy camera for looking inside hidden areas
SHEKAR 2.0 Megapixels HD 5.5mm 5M EndoscopeI had high hopes for this when I ordered it, I'm often working on cars where it would be very handy to be able to view a hidden area to see exactly what's what before attempting to fix something. The Endoscope arrived securely packaged within a small tough cardboard box. On unpacking I found the Endoscope coiled up neatly along with a small bag full of accessories, a mini installation CD, user manual and warranty card. The cable is very stiff so will remain in whatever position you bend it to, so you can bend the cable to whatever angle you wish before inserting it. There is a small scroll wheel built into the cable which as you scroll will adjust the amount of LED light glowing out of the endoscope. The endoscope (camera end) is very slim so should fit into the tiniest of places. The camera has a view angle of 60% and a focal distance of 4cm to 6cm, there are a total of six LEDs so illumination is not a problem. The endoscope has two Velcro straps so you can store it away neatly when not in use.Sadly I found my android phone (which is quite elderly) doesn't seem to work with this, although the OTG Checker app does say my phone supports OTG. Not a problem as I now have this up and working with my laptop which was a doddle to install. I have used the endoscope to look into the interior of the door on my wife's car as we were having issues with her door lock. After a little searching with the endoscope I could see the problem which was that a clip had become unclipped, it was clearly displayed on my laptop. The endoscope cable was long enough for me to rest the laptop safely on the car seat whilst using the probe within the door. The picture transmitted was excellent, a clear sharp image which was good enough for the intended use. I didn't need hi-def 1080p quality, I just need to see what I'm doing and this does the job wellThere is a small bag included with a variety of clips and mini mirror. There is also an adapter to convert the USB plug end of the endoscope into a Type-C smartphone plug end. I needed a Micro USB plug end to go into my android phone, the user manual said one was included but I could not find it. After a lot of head scratching I realised that the USB plug end has a swivel on it, just bend it back and there is the Micro USB plug end hidden within... this is something that is not mentioned in the user manual and could easily be overlooked. All in all this is a very handy device, it works well on my laptop although it would be handy if I could get it working on my phone also. This helped me locate our car lock problem within minutes so it definitely has it's uses! Awful, but it did almost serve a purpose
We've had a few problems with our main drain, which runs under the garage and the length of the block paved drive. Been using drain rods to prod away at the problem but thought it was about time we got to the bottom of the issue. So was really excited when it arrived, until I connected it to my mac. The VLC software was rubbish - the picture froze avery few seconds, so in the end, I used FaceTime to activate the camera. The picture quality is very poor, and the lights just aren't powerful enough. The cable is too flexible, so there was no way they could be pushed along the drain, so I had to tape the end to the drain rod, and push that way.So the visibility was awful, and it was nigh on impossible to make out anything. However, when we opened up the inspection cover at the street end of the drive, we at least found out our drain is straight, as you could make out (literally) the light at the end of the tunnel. At about 10m, there was a blockage of paper, but couldn't make out anything causing it - I was hoping to uncover some kind of damage to the pipe, but this isn't the camera for that. You might say, "what do you expect for £20", but the point is, this just isn't fit for purpose. I genuinely cannot envisage a scenario where this might be of any use.I won't send it back, as it's been down our sewer. I'll stick it in a plastic bag in the garage.

HD? on what planet?
Firstly NOT HD quality by any means, VGA at best. the App is absolutely appalling, Crashed my Samsung A8, and i have tried other apps but none recognize the camera. after alot of luck i managed to get it "working" for a while that's how i know its Not HD. then the phone crashes again and takes ages to restart. the camera housing gets very hot so be warned.Sad to say i wouldn't recommend.

USB C Adapter connection does not fit correctly.
Not the best picture quality but the main issue is the USB C adapter does not connect correctly and therefore slightest movement and the cable looses connectivity and display goes off, which you means one person has to hold it in the phone while the other navigates the camera.

Great for the price.
Iwas surprised by how good this was for a cheap endoscope. We've been using it to look into the birdhouse in our garden. The picture is clear enough to see the different components of the bird nest. The light is bright enough. The endoscope app for android works well with it.Overall I'm pleased.

Works for me
Took a little bit of setting up on my Oneplus 5 phone but once found right settings it worked a treat. Basically for the money I don't think you could do better.

Not fit for purpose
The cable is so flexible that you would never be able to get the camera even a few inches down a pipe etc. Obviously useless and not fit for purpose.

Needs another app to work on phones
Won't just plug and play with your phone you're required to download a free app to use it. Average quality at best but for the price it gets the job done.
