ATMOSPHERIC MOVIE
Cinema on the slow ... with plenty of attractions : fabulous music, food, scenery and original interiors. Love Luca Guadagnino’s style with attention to detail, showing authentic scenes in a cinematic way, like the scene with riccotta. Narration is smooth and sooo great acting (!) from the leading actors - Ralph Fiennes and actresses - Tilda Swinton, and also from the Italian cast in supporting roles. Luca gets as authentic as possible within scenes and with the scenery background, very important as he's Italian himself. ”Sells ” Italy in the best way, even gives a passport to the island with the dvd to you ....... If you like it try " Call me by your name ”, also Italy but in the 80s ......

Thoughtful Psychological Drama
This is one of those movies that somehow defies all genres and labels. It's not quite arthouse, but far from mainstream. In that regard, the only film I can really compare it to is Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. It's a drama, at least - and A Bigger Splash certainly deals with the psychological; from Ralph Fiennes' Henry, and his less-than-kind treatment of Swinton's character. It's a story of relationships, of breaking comformities, of turning the rules of the world as you know and making them slightly askew. Until things just seem... off. It's not even that *psychological*, but enough to make you incredibly unsure in what it will do next. I fear I'm far from the target market or demographic for this film, but I still enjoyed it. Swinton and Feinnes both outshone themselves, yet again, but all the 'secondary' characters worked really well from an acting and story point of view. I found it went on just a bit too long for my liking, but generally I was pretty solidly satisfied for the two hours. And I usually just like watching giant monsters pummel eachother. An interesting film, most definitely. I could easily see one scratching their head after completion, wondering just what on Earth A Bigger Splash is, or what it offers. What does it offer? Bemusement. And that's enough.

don't waste your time.
really don't understand the point of this film. such a shame to see ralph Fiennes be made to over act in such a manner to make anybody despise him after about 5 minutes of screen time. a lot of smoke and absolutely no fire. some incredibly questionable shots and transitions that have the potential to induce vertigo if your not paying attention. this film is just a massive waste of your time and the people who bothered to film it in the first place. the only positive I can take away from this experience is that I can now go and warn people not to watch this film.

Should have been amazing
It has a great cast and a wonderful setting and swimming pools, for me that should have been the ultimate winner but I just didn't enjoy the film even though it had the amazing Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton etc - just didn't work for me and was glad for it to end. Perhaps one of those films that on a re-watch I will form a totally different opinion and love it. I mean Tilda Swinton hardly talks all the way through, I know that is the reason for the trip to recover but it did annoy a little. Ralph Fiennes was totally all over the place prancing about to the Rolling Stones (could have done without that, I was squirming in my seat ... but he is a fine actor that can sort of get away with it). Was not surprised by the end. Perhaps I should have seen the original French film instead.

Loved this film it was unique, funny and made me feel like I was on holiday.Very different, Ralph Fiennes was hilarious, especially dancing to the rolling stones.Tilda Swinton was as ever one of a kind, and Mattias Schonearts, well what can I say? Gorgeous as ever, very sexy, well the whole thing was really, not very often us ladies get to see the male anatomy but this had it all.Comedy, tragedy, tension filmed in a lovely location.A very unusual and enjoyable film

Brilliant movie for grown-ups.
Settle in, turn off the phone, give the kids some Calpol or whatever, and enjoy. Tilda Swinton dominates without saying a word, Fiennes never shuts up in a unique performance for him, and the others are perfectly cast to brood or smoulder. The plot touches the right number of different bases and the soundtrack is stunning, taking rock classics and letting imaginative youngsters cover them. Middle aged rockers wish they were this interesting.

Actually loved it and I usually fast forward most films
Yes, nothing much happens - reminded me of holidays in the sun where one day sprawls into the next in a kind of hazy heat - but didn't want to miss any nuance between characters and was fascinated in how it would play out. It reminded me of '60s films and kept having to remind myself it was modern day. Actually loved it and I usually fast forward most films. Tilda Swinton was fascinating to watch.
