I've had this for about 3 weeks. I have been taking it straight up. Twice a day. Lunch time and dinner time before eating. I suffer from migraines due to menopause as I had a hysterectomy done a year ago. The migraines have slowed down. Not gone away. The heat flashed have calmed down, not gone away. The symptoms have all calmed down. Not completely gone. I am satisfied with that. . Now I will say this. I have lost 15 lbs since I started using this. Not sure if that was one of the benefits, however I am enjoying it. . I also have gastritis. It has helped me alot. No flare ups. My food has been digesting fine. As far as the taste. I read that the taste was horrible. So I expected it to be horrible. It was actually pleasant. To me, it taste like honey. But I also drink teas daily and I can down ginger and turmeric easy. So maybe my taste buds are just built different. . Overall I gave this a 5 star. I am very happy with it. I will come back when the bottle is done. To let you know how everything is.

I already have a high-quality supply of Dong Quai, but it's in a loose powder form which isn't the easiest way to take this herb. It has a very distinctive flavor that's both bitter and slightly numbing on the tongue, and I keep it on hand because of what I've read in Stephen Buhner's wonderful books on herbs. For some uses capsules are more convenient than powders, so I was hopeful when I ordered this bottle from Wild & Organic that it would be exactly the same as the product I already have. Opening the capsules, the powder is a similar cardboard-brown color, just a couple of shades lighter. It's very finely milled and there are no large pieces or bits of stem. The flavor is very close, too, with that characteristic bitterness and numbing sensation, though it's somewhat less intense - if my original powder is 100%, then I'd say the capsule powder is about 85%. The bottle has an expiration date of March 2027, which is more than a year past my original, so it shouldn't be a freshness issue. It could simply be a different supply or method of drying and powdering, or it could be that I'll need to take a little more to get the same result - either way, it will be some time before I can be sure. Regardless, I'm quite pleased with this product, as the taste and feeling are just what they should be, if a little more subtle.

I purchased this for my mom, who was still experiencing pesky flashes. I read in a tea book that this herbal product might help alleviate related issues with the flashes. So far, Mom has tried it and noticed that it has been helpful as a natural adjunct option. She was pleased that I got it for her, as she said she probably wouldn't have bought it for herself. Summing it up, she said yes it was effective. Decently priced so that she said she would buy another bottle. The taste didn't seem to be an issue and wasn't bad.
