43 Glam
Glam defined the mid 70's. This collection captures all the best including well known artists like the Sweet with more obscure (especially in the states) but still great artists like Mud and the Rubettes. Put on your wedgies and enjoy.

Awesome
Wonderful example of 70's Glam Rock, although there are a handful of songs I would have left out, and some big hits of the time were left out, but overall a great collection, I highly recommend it.John T.Houston, TX.

More like a small Roman Candle and its not THE Best either
I have reached the conclusion none of these record companies producing glam compilations can remember anything about the 70's. Those in charge must also be too young and too lazy to do the research which = non-one wants to produce something really good befitting this title. This is a typical example.Glam roared in from late 71 with Slade through to about 1976. Your main big players in that time period Slade (6 x No 1) Gary Glitter (2 x No 1) Sweet (1 x No 1) T Rex (4 x No 1), Bay City Rollers (2 x No 1) Wizzard (2 x No 1), Suzi Quattro (2 x No 1) Mud (3 x No 1), Showaddywaddy (2 x No 1 ), 10CC (3 x No 1), Rod Stewart with and without the Faces (5 x No 1 including solo hits), and Alice Cooper (1 x No 1). Bowie and Mott the Hoople, The Glitter Band, David Essex, Alvin Stardust, Chickory Tip, Mungo Jerry, Elton John, Barry Blue, Hello, Sparks, New York Dolls, Hot Chocolate as well as Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel, were also right up there in the top 5 and top 10 along with other sugar pop bands of the time such as Kenny, Rubettes, Arrows and Osmonds. This album does have a reasonable sprinkling of these and thats to its credit and the 3.5 stars I have given it. HOWEVER:Some absolutely bewildering inclusions that are not only non glam but also non hits also take up this valuable listening space. Lulu for instance is on here - why? There is also a guy called John Kongos who has 2 inclusions (are his family at the record company? ) and I have never even heard of him. Ditto I am baffled as to why a nobody band called Angel are included (this is not the USA glam band take note) but some nobodys who had 2 minor scrapers and both are included!. Heavy Metal Kids and a Bonnie St Clair are 2 more that also escaped my notice at the time when Glam was happening - was I asleep or are these more rubbish fillers?. 7 absolute turkey inclusions 6 of which virtually no-one will have ever heard of. Its not as if there was nothing else. 10CC, Rod Stewart/Faces, even Alvin Stardust. They were all had top 5 hits into the bargain including No 1 chart toppers and area lot more deserving of inclusion and as being classified as the "best of" on here.Although technology allows us to skip rubbish and just listen to the good stuff, that is beside the point. This album is not cheap and its okay not great. The plus is I don't know another compilation with all 3 hits of Cozy Powell included. The minus is there are at least 6 tracks you wont know even if you remember the glam period and lived through it and they are absolute garbage. If you're loooking for good value and all typical glam greats then chose another compilation. Glam Slam is really good and the Glam Greats 1 and 2 are also better than average at a better price and with a much better selection. Give this one a big miss.
