Says transparent but purple is NOT transparent! What is it actually?

It's both... It's purple but you can see through the gel part where you rest your wrist.

I bought this pad but it just doesn't work for me, it is just too short, I keep hitting the borders, am I the only one who thinks that ?

Mine works fine for me, but I have short hands and a mouse that doesn't take up a lot of space. Sorry you're having trouble.

Does this come with the keypad wrist rest?

No but the wrist rest is pretty inexpensive as well. It is 100% worth it to buy these. I've had mine a long time now and that are just as comfortable as the first day I bought them. There is no smell and they are easy to clean. Moist cloth works perfectly.

Is the base non skid?

It stayed in place well for me, is not of the quality of previous versions of this Fellowes mouse pad. I recently replaced it with the Kensington Duo Gel Mouse Pad with Wrist Rest - Blue (K62401AM), which is very nice! No slipping either, and nicer dual gel wrist rest. Hope this helps.
