Instructions were clear and I installed it without a problem. Skeg is now stainless steel and looks great.

Received mine today, for a 2015 Mercury 150 hp 4 stroke. It took a little longer to deliver, 26 instead of 3 days. I have not installed it yet, but the product itself looks better than I expected.After installing: I was a bit worried about drilling the last bit of sgek left on the engine. Turns out, it takes no skills at all. Cleaning, fitting with a rubber hammer, drilling, bolts in, all under 10 minutes.

I couldnt find a skeg guard for a 2001 mercury 25hp bigfoot anywhere. In my research trying to find a weld on replacement skeg i found that the skeg that i would need was in fact for a 40-60 hp merc. So i took a gamble and ordered this skeg shield. The motor that i bought out of a barn was missing quite a bit of the skeg so i had to drill another 5/16” hole in order to mount it. Yeah it may void my warranty but it saved me a ton of time. If i really had the gumption i can scribe this skeg shield to the contour of the gear housing with a belt sander and it would fit perfectly.

The skeg was broken off of my late 80's Mercury 115 "Tower Of Power" when I bought it. Although a couple people told me it would be OK as is, I still wanted it right. I had to wait a little longer to get this, but it was worth the wait. It came in this morning. I installed it very easily by bumping it onto the remainder of my broken skeg and drilled the holes to mount it. I had to shorten one of the chicago screws to get it tightened down just right, but it's a perfect replacement compared to a $1500 repair!

This is a well made accessory and should protect the skeg and the prop. Well satisfied.

Easy installation and great product overall. Came with everything I needed.

Already saved my lower unit once, It knocked right off, should have put a tight leash on itas the bolts are shear bolts for good reason. It does what it is supposed to do and is an attractive addition.

Nice product, but didn’t fit after I sent the engine size it was going on. Heck, if I could get one to fit, I’d buy it. They did have fast shipping and easy returns.

I recently banged up my skeg. This was an easy solution and it looks really cool too.You'll need to file down the jagged corners where the damage is so the guard slips on. Once the guard is in place, drill your holes and screw on the bolts.

It was to small to fit over complete Skeg. If I only had a small piece broken off bottom of Skeg it may have worked.I had about three inches level across my Skeg left and this shield would not fit over it.

Easy to hook up

very simple to install , had to drill anotherhole as fin badly broken, happy with results, too expensive though ?

Feel free to ask a question of the supplier if you are not sure of the proper Skeg model you require to ensure a proper fit the first time. Easy to install, provided you have the required length remaining of the original skeg.
