I've ordered this item yesterday and got it today, amazing, never was so quickly. thanks. Now about the books: I've ordered these books, as I am interested in Democratic education. The book tells a story of democratic school. The first 3 chapters I've read to my son at bedtime was ammmaaazing. Arthur, he is 7, was asking me "just keep reading, keep reading".... I can't remember him being so excited about the book....about stupid screens, yes, but not about the book.It is great book set, the best I ever had, it is interesting for both, for grown ups and kids. It is educative and meaningful.Bye bye, for now, as I am going to sneak in Arthur's bedroom, take the book and read some more, while he is asleep.Dying to know what happened next. I promised that I am not going to read on my own first, but I kept my fingers crossed...Naughty me...lol

back to my childhood
How lovely to re-read some of my favourite author's stories on my kindle. Enid Blyton captures the era she wrote in wonderfully. The Naughtiest Girl series shows how Boarding School was part of the norm back then. Without television, ipods, computers & the internet, the children made their own fun. After-school classes & groups for hobbies were encouraged & lying & cheating were not. This book, the first in the series (I only remember reading the first two or three) starts with naughty Elizabeth Allen being sent to Boarding School. She tries vehemently to be sent home by constantly being naughty. But after a few weeks, she finds out a secret about one of her fellow school girls that makes her realise that being nice is far more rewarding. Also as the school allows the older children to "govern" themselves, the children can sort out suitable punishments for the unruly, as Elizabeth finds out to her cost. The only grumble I have is the monetary system. The books were written in the age of pounds, shillings & pence but someone has decided that modern children will not understand this & have re-writen it to use pounds & pence only. Children are not daft & will accept that once upon a time money was different, so why change it?So, money-editing aside, this is a charming book that isn't full of "tally-ho girls" & "who's for a rousing game of hockey" & I will certainly be reading the series to any children I have in the future.

A nice touch of nostalgia
The Faraway Tree and the Naughtiest Girl series were the only Enid Blyton books I'd ever enjoyed as a child and felt like a comfy read when I discovered these books were still available - and to my surprise, being read by a new generation! I admit that I had few hopes when I got this book to read on Kindle. After all, ENID BLYTON????! However, I enjoyed it. The book is beautifully written and although it's out of date and probably politcally incorrect, I still liked reading it.One niggle was that the modern editing was faulty - eg, the girls are apparently allowed to go to the pictures once a week, but on TWO POUNDS a week pocket money?? Also, Poor Elizabeth hands over her term's money, totalling eight quid but will get £2 a week back and she's bitterly disapointed! They should take more care with this kind of thing! All in all, a big nostalgic hit for me. I imagine that modern children will enjoy it, too - although quite how they could possibly relate to a ten-year-old going away to school is a mystery.

Classic stories!
My daughter (5) and my son (9) were enthralled by this CD set on our drive through Italy. Yes, it is a little old fashioned, but both of them loved the story and my son was left wishing that his school was run the same was as those on the CD! There are the first two books on the CDs, and there are two CDs in the box (one book per CD). Since we got back my daughter can be found sitting listening to these with her brother sitting next to her. Great value, and classic stories.

Yet another Enid Blyton page turner!
Bought for my 9 year old granddaughter who is now enjoying Enid Blyton just as I did at her age. I know some critics disapprove of Blyton but she was writing at a different time. Some language that was acceptable then would now be regarded as racist, elitist etc. Nevertheless the stories are still page turners and a great way of encouraging kids to read.

Be warned, only first few volumes is Enid Blyton.....
Enid Blyton is always a good choice for expanding readers, however, there needs to be a caveat on this collection....only the first 4 books are Enid Blyton, the rest has been taken over by an author Anne Digby of whom no information is given. I have not gotten to read her volumes yet, hopefully they are in the same vein, however no-one has ever matched Enid Blytons style and while I got these books at a heavy discount, I am still disappointed at the lack of clarity.
