Dependable until the built-in battery lasts.
This line of Cyber Power UPS works for about 5 years. After that the internal battery is unable to ride it through power surges. So long as you know that, it is a relatively inexpensive protection for all your computer stuff.

Good badic UPS
Seems to be a quality unit...I needed a higher capacity for my old Windows home server and one other PC. Plenty of outlets. My only rub is the UPS software doesn't seem to run on my ancient WHS. Right now, it's not configured to shut down the server, but at least short outages should be easily handled. Also, it was reasonably priced and compact sized.

reliable and convenient
This UPS is a reliable, budget-friendly option for keeping essential devices running during short power outages. It provides enough backup time for things like routers and small electronics, and the multiple outlets make it easy to protect several devices at once. The compact design is convenient for tight spaces, though it’s best suited for lighter loads rather than high-power equipment.

Battery dies within 30 days - Very common for this product
I never gave a 1 before, bt this product quite simply has a long history of failure. I researched it on ChatGPT, Claude & Gemini. The battery fails within a month & then it is rendered useless. Do not buy this product. Spend the money to buy a proper UPS: If your Amazon Basics UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector (400VA/255W) isn’t holding power when the electricity goes out, it means the unit isn’t supplying backup power as it should. There are several possible reasons — some simple to fix, and others that indicate a hardware limitation or failure. Here are the most common causes and what you can check: ✅ 1. Battery Is Dead or Bad The most frequent cause of a UPS not holding power is a worn-out or failed internal battery. Why this happens UPS batteries are sealed lead-acid (SLA) and wear out over time (usually 3–5 years). If the UPS was stored discharged for a long time, the battery may be permanently damaged. Even new units can have a defective battery. What to check Press the power/test button — does it beep or indicate battery status? Some models flash an error code if the battery is bad. If available, check the battery replacement indicator. Solution: Replace the UPS battery (if the model allows it). For this Amazon Basics unit, replacement batteries are typically inexpensive and the case can open to swap the battery. ✅ 2. UPS Was Never Fully Charged If the UPS wasn’t charged long enough before use: It may not have stored enough energy. New units usually need several hours of charge before first use. Solution: Plug it in and let it charge overnight (8–12 hours), then test again. ✅ 3. Load Too High for the UPS Capacity A 400VA/255W UPS is relatively low power — it can handle: A small desktop computer A router/modem A few peripherals … but not high-power devices like: Large monitors Gaming PCs Laser printers Space heaters If the connected load exceeds 255W, the UPS may instantly go into overload protection and drop power. Solution: Reduce the load: Unplug everything except a single device. Test if it still fails. ✅ 4. UPS Is Old or Stored Without Power If the UPS wasn’t used for a long time: The internal battery sulfates and can’t hold charge. Some UPS units lock out battery use after long idle periods. Solution: Recharge it fully and test battery with reduced load — if still no backup time, the battery likely needs replacement. ✅ 5. The Unit Is Defective Sometimes UPS units have internal failures: Faulty battery charger circuit Bad connection between battery and electronics Internal fuse blown Signs of this: No lights or beeps on battery test UPS immediately shuts off when unplugged Strange behavior like rapid blinking Solution: If under warranty, contact Amazon for a return/replacement. ❌ 6. Surge Only Outlets vs. Battery Backup Outlets Some UPS units have two types of outlets: Battery Backup + Surge Protection Surge Protection Only If you plugged devices into the surge-only outlets, they won’t receive backup power when the power fails. Check: On the unit label, make sure your devices are plugged into the battery backup outlets, not the surge-only ones. Quick Troubleshooting Checklist ✔ Make sure device is plugged into the battery-backup outlets ✔ Let it charge for 8–12 hours ✔ Disconnect excess load — try just one device ✔ Press power/test button for status indication ✔ If still not working → likely battery replacement needed When to Replace the Battery Typical UPS batteries (sealed lead-acid) need replacement every 3–5 years. For this Amazon Basics model, replacing the battery is usually possible — the battery inside is a standard size and can be swapped. If you want, tell me: 🔹 What devices are plugged into the UPS 🔹 How old the UPS is 🔹 What the UPS lights/indicators show when the power fails …and I can help you diagnose the problem more precisely.

Not bad for the money but no replacement battery available on Amazon
This review is being written four and a half years after my original purchase. I'm not sure how you would write a review prior to the death of the ups. This unit has no display and I was not looking for one. It fit my usage needs perfectly as I simply wanted to power the cable box behind my television which is installed in recessed Cabinetry where all power connectors inside the Cabinetry and very hard to reach. I live where power is interrupted one to two times per month and as you know cable boxes take a significant period of time to reboot. I have a generator but I have it set for 45 seconds to kick in. This UPS served us perfectly for four and a half years. It kept the television on and the cable box on for that 45 seconds. It did start to beep as soon as we lost power. It's nice to know that it was working. Others have stated that it could not Auto reset once the power came back on. That is not my experience. Once the generator kicked in or the street kicked back on the UPS reset itself perfectly. All that being said the battery is now dead. It is now my search for a replacement battery that is leading me to only get this unit 4 stars. Typically, on all my other UPS's, I would simply open it up take the model number off the battery and search Amazon for the replacement. I've done that with this one but no such battery replacement exists on Amazon. To be clear, the battery inside my "Amazon Basics UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector, 400VA/255W, 6 Outlets, Uninterruptible Power Supply, Small Compact Size, Black" is a Leoch cps3.6-12(12v2.9ah). Finding this battery has become extremely difficult period even my local Electrical Supply Warehouse does not have a battery of this size with capacities and terminal connections being the same or similar. Because of this I will need to purchase I need ups at this time. Somewhat disappointing but after four and a half years I guess it's not that bad. As you can see in the images I did try to buy a replacement battery that others had stated it would fit. I bought this prior to digging it out of the Cabinetry it was in. As you can see it definitely did not fit. I've provided images of the actual battery in the unit, the battery removed with make and model showing, and measurements of the terminals. I forgot the state that the form factor on this is perfect. I do have a few of these including one of them mounted underneath a desk. For the same reason as stated above I would not want the computer to lose power immediately as that really messes up the computer. That one is still working just fine. But, I'm going to keep it close eye on it because I suspect it's about ready to go.

Keeps the power going during brown outs. Used for fiber modem, small central air pump and central air exchanger uv light.

I haven't had it for long (less than a month), but so far it works great and is a very good price. No issues so far at all. I will update review if i do have issues. This is my third UPS but first from AmazonBasics. I normally buy the cyberpower one. This one is lacking the LCD screen that cyberpower has but i never use that anyway.

It seems like a solid unit. These are actually built by Cyberpower, which uses the Cyberpower Powerpanel program to connect to Windows. The courier Intelcom delivered this to the wrong house. Thankfully, amazon was able to send a 2nd one out and I didn't have to fight with them or anything! It can be set up to turn off your pc automatically after a power outage, after it turns your pc off it will also shutdown the UPS about a minute after. Once power comes back on the UPS will automatically turn back on and if you have your PC setup accordingly in the BIOS your PC will also turn on automatically. One thing about this unit is if the battery of the UPS goes to 0% it will not turn back on automatically. But you shouldn't be draining it to 0% anyway. However, on my UnRaid server, I could not get this functionality to work. I can get it to turn off the server but not shutdown the UPS; as a result, I would have to manually turn on the server. It recognizes the UPS; I tried built-in UPS functionality and NUTS for the server, but neither worked. It works perfect on Windows though. I get about 50 mins of runtime on my PC if idling or browsing the web. Id recommend this UPS as long as your not wanting it to shutdown and restart non-windows servers, for anything windows it works great.

No issues with this. Working as expected. Great for low draw products like a fiber to cat6 modem.
