Edgy, Gritty, Passionate....Outstanding
EJD is quite possibly a literary genius. He has a special way with words that really make you think while reading, read and re-read sentences 3 or 4 times over because they are just that astounding. This story was a powerful page turner. From the very first page he brought you into James Thicke's world; and what a crazy world it was. James Thicke, or part time "Varg Veum" was the most diabolically sane hero that I have read. He was really flying by the seat of his pants, but was secretly calculating in all of his actions. The things that were happening to him just made you say wow, and the things that he did to others were just explosive. Even though he was a mastermind, he was also a very passionate and pleasing man, and please he did over and over to the women in his life. Regina Baptiste, also a complex character. I don't know if I ever fully figured her out, but her actions that led to the total chaos in this book was literally straight from a movie. She just seemed like such a lost soul, that needed James Thicke for validation.Overall this book was just absolutely superb. The level of writing is superior. I have been a fan of EJD since I borrowed Sister, Sister from the public library at the age of 17, and now 13yrs later he just never ceases to amaze me. His writing style has totally evolved from then, and he is just catapulted himself to another level. The break between this book and Tempted by Trouble was too long, so please don't keep us waiting so long for your next masterpiece.P.S. Bring Gideon back soon...I miss him!

Loved it!
Loved it just like I always do!! EJD just has such a gift for drawing you into the world he creates with these crazy/flawed characters. some of the things that happened in this book had me shaking my head in disbelief. I would never have believed the main character James would GO there. I loved those crazy neighbors, loved seeing Panther/Cynthia again, liked that Driver had not lost his edge and clearly still moonlights for Wolfe. And I was excited to see Hazel again as well. Getting to see a different side to her was great. I love when EJD puts his old characters into his new story. I have to say though, I was not happy about the ending. I was hoping that there would of been a little more closure. Instead they just kind of came to a standstill. This left you wondering what the future held for them. And unless there is a sequel to this book, that is going to bug me. lol This book was a excellent read. Loved the little background moments, loved how you were able to see how crossing paths with someone you don't know can change your life. Like the relationship between James and Isabel. I would definitely recommend this book.

Read in one day
I am a fan of Eric Jerome Dickey I've liked all his books with the exception of Thieves' Paradise.... (I know I need to read it because it introduces Scamz) This book was great I purchased it on my Kindle and read it in one evening.... couldn't put it down. I read the reviews after and yes there is a lot of dialog, and yes there are a lot of words not normally used however, the character is a writer so that only makes sense that he is a wordsmith. I too bore easy... hence the unfinished Thieves Paradise, but this book held my attention because there were a lot of twists and turns. He did a great job with the building of the characters and I love the last few chapters.... ironically I could actually see this as a screen play... :)

Accidental Affair
I consider An Accidental Affair one of Dickey's explosive novels. The book grab my attention from the first chapter to the last. I just love his story telling talent. He brings the book to life and takes the reader through twists and turns before slamming you with an truly explosive ending that you would have never expected. Dickey is one heck of a story teller. He is at the top of the list of my favorite writers. I Can see An Accidental Affair being a blockbuster movie. Hmmmmmm, something to think about.
