Top for function, quality and price.
This is shorter than a border spade, and is shaped to easily break even quite compacted soil. I bought it to dig up and move established plants and now I use it for absolutely everything I would have used a spade for. It's good quality, not too heavy and very handy, especially if you are quite short and not particularly strong.

Useful Gardening Shovel
35 inch shovel with a rubber grip for handle. Made of steel carbon metal. Handle large enough for extra large hands. Great value for money. Worth keeping one for gardening. Head attachment does not bend. Rounded edge without sharpness. Great for digging hard and soft soil. Useful when planting lots of trees and plants into ground.

I this as a metal detecting spade, it's OK on light fluffy ground, but it's not strong enough for clay, haven't forced it but can feel it flexing.
