Doom (Deluxe Double

DOOOOOOOM!!!!
It has only been four years since Doom was released on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The game is a re-boot of the classic first person shooter franchise and took a lot of people by surprise. The game was fast paced, viciously violent, smooth to control and had an absolutely killer soundtrack. After playing through the game for the third time, I found myself really thinking of the music. Something that I rarely do with video games these days. Because of this, I decided to purchase the official game soundtrack and boy... I was not disappointed. The Doom original game soundtrack is a master work by the musician Mick Gordon. This fellow has worked on a lot of previous Bethesda games including Wolfenstein and the new Doom Eternal. He has worked on Borderlands 3 and did an excellent soundtrack for the indie game Beautiful Desolation. The man has done some great work in recent years, this double album being his crowning achievement. Most people remember the Doom OST for its heavy metal riffs. Those nasty brutal sounding "djent" rhythms with heavy drums are quite a contrast to the typical orchestral heavy stuff that is now too common in gaming. The first time you hear something like, Rip & Tear, it just hits you in the gut and remind you of just how bad ass Doom was back in the '90s with its rippin' midi metal music. There's a lot of great metal moments like this thrown throughout. But to mix it all up, there's a good bit of dark atmospheric music. These horrific pulsing tracks are actually just as entertaining as the metal. They provide the listener with some great atmosphere and breaks up the repetition of the harder tunes. To describe the sound on the Doom OST is not so easy. It obviously has it's metal influences but there's also plenty of industrial moments, some techno beats here and there as well as some really synth heavy stuff. It's a great varied album to listen to and sounds immense as it distorts, twists and grinds between each song. It's such a strange collection of music that I can see it attracting people with interests in multiple genres of music. My only real gripe here is the fact that it's been engineered a tad loud. I'm not a fan of the loudness wars and this is easily a casualty of it. Thankfully, the music doesn't have many artifacts or distortion. It is simply too loud for its own good. It's a shame really as this is something that really needs to be played loud.As it is though, this is a fantastic soundtrack. One that I highly recommend picking for fans of the game. Heck, my sister loved it and she hasn't even played the thing yet! This is possibly the most exciting video game soundtrack I have heard since the days of when Frank Klepacki was destroying us with Act On Instinct and Hell March.

Beautiful Record, such a STEAL!
The media could not be loaded. Firstly, I would like to address some of the people making reviews, some of you guys have suitcase record players. The needles that are usually packaged on these suitcases are cheap and will have a tendency to scratch and damage your records beyond repair, that’s why they SKIP, buy a good record player!!About the record it’s self? Absolutely wonderful, a beautiful ruby red and came packaged perfectly, no marks or scratches, did come with some dust but easily cleaned. 11/10!

Pure gory pleasure
Brilliant stuff if you want to feel the never-ending hate towards all hellish creatures and possibly some humans as well. I would not advise to listen this in your car as you might turn yourself into a real version of the Carmageddon driver haha

A great soundtrack
At 31 tracks long this is a hefty soundtrack for 8 bucks, and although it's not entirely made up of heavy guitar riffs, there is still more than enough to instil that feeling of bad-ass that the game does.Mick Gordon did an amazing job scoring this game and he deserves all the recognition he can get.I would have given it 5 stars but I removed one due to there being no physical copy available, i would have much preferred a CD rather than a digital download.

Audio Demon Slaying
Mick Gordon is God.... Thats the only review you need. But a little more detail would be how fantastically crafted this album is both as an OST and as a standalone music album. Its 2 discs of avant-garde metal and electronica, with demon-splitting riffs and Hell-shattering drums
