Great trail runners with a wide toe box.
These shoes are amazing! They fit great and feel like you’re walking on clouds.

Great update
Lone peak 9 is more comfortable than the lone peak 8 . Toe box is roomy, great cushioning ! I bought a 2nd pair

Great trail shoe! Let’s your foot do its job!
So far so good! I recommend a break in period for sure. Takes some time to get used to the zero drop. Ultimately it’s pretty amazing. I have old foot injuries from basketball and it’s hard to find shoes. With the zero drop and big toe box it’s like they let your foot do what it’s supposed to instead of coddle it in massive amounts of foam. I’ve taken them out in light snow and sloppy mud. I would call them weather resistant. They offer little protection from wet. Traction is awesome and super grippy! Great shoe!

Altra Hiking Shoes for Men
I ordered size 10.5 wide and this pair of walking/running/hiking shoes never disappoint me. This is my go to pair to use even when I have episodes of gout on my foot. Because of the wide toe box, it gives me enough toe wiggle room even if my big toe is swollen from gout. They are my second pair of Altras. They are durable, comfortable, and functional.

Shoes
I like that they are light and have toe room. I work on concrete floors and this shoe is great !

Love this shoe! Loyal customer since 2018.
Best fitting shoes ever. I wear them daily and always ready to hit the trail. These shoes have resolved years of foot and hip pain.

Causing open wounds from heel chafing at achilles tendon
Caused achilles chafing and open wound especialy on left side after 10 minutes of walking. This is either a massive design issue or a lousy quality check. though some past models had same problem (altra paradigm 5,Altra Superior 4.5 etc.). The shoes are un usable without adaptions (cutting a part of the back heel , taping your achilles tendon, not lacing tight), adding height with orthotics won't help you.total dissapointment and waste money. And no, i don't have the "bony bump" Haglund's Deformity issue. this is the only model I couldn't use at all.the only good side: forefoot is wide enough to give barefoot feeling, shoe vertical depth could be improved (kind of low)

Much improvement from the LP8
Altra must have been listening to their customers because everything wrong with the LP8 was fixed in the LP9 and improved from the LP7. Most of the design from the LP7 was carried over and improved, such as the Maxtrac treads. The Maxtrac is similar to the ones found on the Altra Olympus. I also feel like the upper has more cushion. Most importantly, it's wider again. I've been a long-time Altra LP customer since the original LP. While this shoe has significantly changed over the years, I'd say that this version is a win in my books. If you were disappointed by the LP8, this one will hopefully be better for you.
