Q: can this puncture a shark should the need arrise?

No. This is not a dive knife, you dont want a knife that floats when you're diving. The tip is also blunt.

Q: Will the sheath hold the knife in place during movement/ activity. If I'm rolling a Kayak or doing rescues or being hit by surf?

probably not. the sheath does have a noteceable 'bump' molded into it that keeps the knife in place but is also very easy to remove. Another thing to consider is that the handle is made of cork which could get beat up in the area where the bump engages.

Q: I work on tugboats and this is made out of cork and it looks brittle and I also like the morakniv craftline basic 511 I don't know which one willwork

I’m not familiar with the 511. The knife is supposed to float with the cork handle, but I have not tried it. It’s a cheap knife that I keep on a kayak. If I need a strong work blade I go with SOG or other quality blades. I have no complaints about this knife for what I paid for it.

Q: How does the steel handle salt water? Anyone try it?

This knife is stainless steel and designed specifically for fishing boats. It will do just fine.
