Egg shell breaker for uncooked eggs
It's always interesting to try out a completely new product (new to me anyway). My husband eats a lot of hard-boiled eggs, shelling them first, and I'm always finding little squares of egg shell, mostly around the lounge, so was hoping that this would be a quick, neat way of removing the shell without leaving a mess. I thought the outer would be silicone, to give some grip on the shell and help to pull it apart, but as it's solid plastic it doesn't do this, just the thin pieces of metal cut into the shell, so unfortunately I don't find it helpful for hard-boiled eggsFor breaking uncooked eggs, the 2 metal piercers do work, then pulling apart separates the two halves of the shell, leaving a wavy edge. No extra pieces of eggshell fell into the egg when I tried it, except for the whole shell which fell out afterwards! Perhaps I just need more practise. It could be a little sturdier too. However I can't say that I struggle cracking an egg with an ordinary knife, but for someone who struggles with dexterity and/or does a lot of baking, I can see that it could be a help and a time-saver.

It Works on Hardboiled Eggs but you Need to be Very Precise. With raw Eggs it's kind of Redundant
I've seen this egg shell opener circulating around social media recently and when it came up I was eager to try it out. It kind of works. Kind of!To get it to work you place the egg inside the plastic container and then push the two metal strips which are supposed to crack the egg making it easier to remove the shell.I tried this out with hardboiled eggs first and it works. However, this is with a huge caveat! You have to be extremely precise with the amount of pressure you enact on this metal strips. Too much and it either cuts the egg in half (not great if you're a runny egg fan) or pushes the shell into the edible part of the egg and you're picking it out. Get it just right though and you can crack the egg just enough to de-sleeve the egg as you pull the container apart. With raw eggs it's a bit redundant. By the time you put the egg inside and then press the metal strips to crack the egg and then remove the egg from the container you could probably have cracked several eggs with your hands. Well I know I could anyway! I crack mine on the side of a cup with one hand, it takes no time at all. I do a lot of baking and batch cooking meals and honestly I don't need this. I don't need this to crack a raw egg. It's overengineering at it's finest. So yeah, kind of works but not something you really need. 3 stars because it is well made.
