Belphegor: Phantom of the Louvre

I enjoyed this film (even with the sub-titles). Watched it twice on the same day I received it. One of my new all time favorite horror/thrillers. Great story line. I shall show it to my girls on Halloween.

Bought it for Sophie Marceau and was not disappointed in that regard. Not a scary movie at all, but had a couple of good moments. It is really more of an art film and it was made in the actual Louvre. If you want the traditional Mummy, this is not for you. This is more a possession or a phantom and the special effects are kind of poor. I still liked it myself, but I wouldn't recommend it for horror buffs.

This dvd presents good audio and good quality image. Given the casting and the location you want to love the movie. The CGI is not convincing but it was better than I expected. Plot wise there is a phantom which haunts the Louvre collecting artifacts housed there that it needs in the afterlife. Of course that requires killing humans but since the movie never gives us a reason to care about those it kills, things get a bit long and drawn out. What keeps your attention is Sophie Marceau who's performance is compelling in just about anything including this tripe.

A wonderful new take on an old story, any horror buff will appreciate the new life spun into this tale, not giving anything away but you will enjoy this,

Not a scarry ghost at all just a guy who wanted to get outta here. lots of effort and money spent for "not too much" of a horror movie. put that one in the drama section.

Loved this movie, love any mummy movies but this one was great. Wasn't crazy about it being dubbed, but Belphegor was great.

The storyline is silly, but the setting and the cast are good. And I did enjoy the bumbling Louvre guards.

This movie was one of the worst movies I have seen in a long time. When I ordered it I didn't realize it was in French with English subtitles. That didn't bother me and was about the only thing that kept me interested for the first hourish. I quit watching it because there was NOTHING good about it. It was poorly acted, there were NO SPECIAL EFFECTS, I honestly would not recommend this to anyone regardless of what type of movie you like...I love French so I enjoyed listening to the words...that is about it!

Habe den Film in TV gesehen und hat mir damals schon gefallen schade das er nicht auf Blu-ray gekommen ist.

Da ist etwas schief gelaufen. Die special effects sind komplett überflüssig und dazu schlecht gemacht. Dazu fehlen neutrale Zwischenszenen, in denen man einfach nur den Protagonisten, den Museumsbesuchern, den Parisern beim täglichen Leben zuschauen kann.

This rare Sci-fi movie from France is worth a one-time viewing but too much conversation, not enough action. It gets a little ridiculous in the last 45 min when the Ghost haunting the Museum arouses no more fear in the staff of the museum as Belphegor becomes one of their friends.
