I originally bought this to enable ProRes photos and take ultra hd videos on my phone, features only unlocked if you have external memory in place. I’ve been very impressed with the product so far. Read and write is on par with stated speeds and USB-C makes it compatible with almost any modern device you can throw at it. File transfers from device to laptop or vice verse are very easy. It wasn’t too long ago that external drives were big bricks, this one can easily be traveled with or just kept in place on the back of your phone with MagSafe. Really my only complaint is that the cord length is too long to not get in the way when attached to the back of the phone, but too short to be attached to the laptop if you have limited desk space. During heavy transfers is does get a little warm but not near as much as other products I’ve used.

So far so good. The drive is recognized by my phone and the transfer speeds are pretty good. It’s a decent size not being overly large and also not being too small and helps me grip my phone better. As far as the few complaints I’ve seen about the strength of the magnet, I had a hard time prying the thing away from my phone because of how strong the magnets are. I did not use the additional ring that came with the drive because I don’t need to. I own an iPhone 16 pro max and have a MagSafe compatible case because, well, who wouldn’t? It’s a great addition to my already 1TB capacity. I will probably pick up another one with a larger capacity, I just wanted to test it out first to make sure it was a solid device before I spent the money on the 2TB drive. All around, solid buy. Well worth the money, STRONG magnets, fast transfer, perfect size… very happy with my purchase.

Had problems with wifi. As soon as I put the drive on my MagSafe case, my phone would go to LTE and could not access any wifi. Once I took off the drive from Magcase, the wifi would reappear with no problems. Sending it back.

Great addon for any iPhone filmmaker. The SSD attaches securely to the MagSafe back and transfer speeds are fast which supports prores capture. It's also very light which is great for portability. 512Gb is enough space to capture lots of content, adding this to my 256GB iPhone helps so much with additional storage. Very worth the price and value for money.

After purchasing a cheap SSD from AliExpress for my Blackmagic 6K, I decided to upgrade to the ORICO 512GB Magnetic Portable SSD, and I couldn’t be happier with the decision. Both SSDs perform adequately, but the ORICO stands out for several reasons. First, the write speeds on the ORICO SSD are significantly faster, which is crucial when working with 4K 120 fps ProRes HDR footage. It handles the large file sizes effortlessly, ensuring smooth recording without dropped frames or lag. This speed boost has made my workflow much more efficient, especially during intensive shooting sessions. Secondly, the build quality is a noticeable step up. The metal body of the ORICO SSD feels robust and durable, offering a premium touch that instills confidence in its longevity. It’s a far cry from the plastic casing of the cheaper alternative, which didn’t feel as sturdy or reliable.

Horrible item! Purchased for my iPhone 16 pro max to record videos with Prores HDR and would overheat and make my phone hot like a stove and slow as well. Also wasn’t able to transfer/import the videos I recorded and saved there. Would make my phone freeze and photo gallery crash. Unusable & useless in my opinion. Will return and try a different brand!

This is a nice product. Very useful but I am only giving it 3 stars as you cannot directly record it to this ssd. You will have to record and transfer it later. Would save time and effort if it could do that. But the product us nice otherwise.

My wife take pics and videos often, so much that she ended up paying to upgrade her cloud storage. I bought her this and she absolutely loves it. Its slim low profile design, transfer rate speed is good, and reliable. I wish I would have purchased myself one. Only hold up, is the price of the model that I am interested in. I need something that has a larger memory size and faster transfer rate due to my use of my phone doubling as a portable PC for my job as a online content creator. I would need at least the 2tb 2000mbs version.
