The only replacement for a Zumo is another Zumo.
My old Zumo died and I replaced it with a TomTom and to be honest, I didn't like the way it dynamically changed routes especially when I had fixed the route in my mind. It was feature poor and eventually I ordered a 396LM.It sounds silly but the TomTom could not find the nearest MacDonalds, I'm not a great fan of MacD but they are somewhere to get out of the cold and grab a coffee and the Zumo knows where I can find one when I need a break.I can play music through the Zumo but not with the TomTom and the connectivity with the TomTom Live traffic is not good at all.On a TomTom, you have to ride to a route to see the speed camera warnings, where as they come up automatically on the Zumo a major plus for me, not that I speed. It's just good to know where they will be. The TT average speed camera speed monitoring worked well, the one time that it did work but it failed to take into consideration that they don't apply in the towns, only on the open roads. The resuly was a misleading average speed reading. The Zumo does not have an average speed camera, average speed monitoring. (I use the on-board bike computer for monitoring average speed.)If there is a weakness it's in the bike mount, the TomTom mount is easier to use and if there is one thing that I am sure of, if you let water onto the contacts on the Zumo bike mount it leads to trouble later.

Brilliant bit of kit
Brilliant bit of kit. So much easier to follow directions than trying to use phone. So many extra features.Does take a while to get used to the search parameters though. I'm still learning new things everytime I use it.

Excellent bike sat nav
I ve not had it long, but so far very impressed . It is easy to use and has many facilities such as connecting to my phone for traffic updates etc. I actually palyed music on it yesterday through my bike headset. It has lots of customiseable warnings. I had it hard wired to the battery by a professional as I did not want to risk trapping wires under the tank. It is easy to take on and of the bike and the mounts that come with it are good. Everything is in the box when you get it. It would have been nice to have a protective carrying cover/case but it seems quite sturdy and slips into a pocket easily. It comes with software to plan routes and then transfer them to the unit. I am still learning this but it has worked well so far.

Replaced an older version of zumo. Haven't used it yet, but loaded up with msps etc ok. Old version didn't like hot weather..so hopefull this one is better!

Worst Sat Nav Ever
We purchased this to tour Europe having previously had a Garmin Lumo 340 which has served us well. This upgraded model has proved disappointing to say the least. On many occasions it didn't even know where we were and actually switched itself off once.

does what it says
the first trip we used this on it rained non stop for 8 hours and no problems with the Sat Nav, battery life seems good have took it off the bike and used it in car with no power lead and battery last 4+ hours, easily conected just slip into cradle and that conects power lead automatically (very good idea). lots of good features such as being able to adjust any part of the route manually is very good and 2 tripometers has been handy at times, very pleased and would recomend

Decent enough, could be better (and cheaper!)
You can get virtually all of the same features in a satnav app for your mobile phone for a fraction of the cost of this unit, and likewise, a normal car satnav will offer you pretty much the exact experience for less than half the price!! However, despite this, I still went ahead and purchased one!First of all, with a mobile phone/car satnav, you don't have any waterproofing, and so have to resort to putting them in bags etc... You then need to look at powering them up safely, even when it's raining. This is where units such as this are ideal.I have a ram mount fitted in to the middle of my upper steering yoke which is ideal for this unit to connect to. Routing the cable through the bike is a doddle - with my particular bike, I connected it to a spare port that I had on a 5 port relay that is ignition activated, and simply routed the cable under my tank - 5 minute job at best! The sat nav itself is pretty sturdy - I can't remember the number of times that I'd dropped it on to a hard surface with no ill effects being seen! The maps are clear and concise, and you have options for choosing what kind of route you would like, such as avoiding motorways, taking bendy and hilly roads. It has certainly taken me down some interesting roads (I use the word roads loosely here as some are no more than gravel tracks that I'd be more at home on my Mountain Bike!) That is also one of it's weak points. Sometimes, despite wanting to stick to main routes, it will take you down these narrow, potholed tracks, which might be okay on an adventure style bike, but you are out on a sports bike, not so good! The routing options are also sometimes lacking and I often find myself being sent in a circle!Definitely a worthwhile addition to any bike, although it would be better if it were cheaper of course!!
