The only thing you really want to know is, are the bricks as good as Lego bricks. I would say almost. the tolerances are good enough that the final product fits together well, but some of the fittings are tight or loose. There are some connections that will pop off if bumped, but no more than would happen with a Lego set with the same connection. The bad? My set was missing 2 pieces and it took more than a month to get the replacement parts. It's not as easy as with Lego just telling them you had missing pieces. There's no inventory at the end of the book or part numbers to reference. You have to take a picture of the instructions, circle the piece you're missing and let them know how many you are missing. Worst of all you have to provide an order number, I guess to prove you bought the set and aren't just looking for some free parts. I can see getting this set as a gift and having a really hard time if the set was missing pieces. I would have given it 4 1/2 stars for the hassle of getting replacement parts, but for the value it's well worth it. I did order the bigger 40103 JMBricklayer Pirate Ship Building Sets and had 2 broken pieces and 2 very warped pieces that made the ship not go together, warped because of the tight packaging. I guess if they replace those parts with no problems it will determine if I shop from them again, but 2 sets and problems with both is not looking good.

Awesome product. Packaging was clearly marked and instructions were precise and easily followed. The project was challenging but fun. My husband and I worked as a team. The finished product provided a sense of accomplishment and is a great display.

Although not Lego branded it was very fun to build. The rigging was rough. Some pieces fit but wouldn't stay, look at it weird and it would fall off. Lighting was a very nice touch. Instructions were top notch. Turned out great! Very pleased with the end results.

Very impressed. This was a great set (The Age of Sail Black Pearl). My 14 year old was sucked in for 6 hours ... Worth it to see him so interested. Will be ordering more

Fun to build….great addition to my fleet. Love that it lights up. The cabin looks so cool.

Don't waste your money buying this version. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money to buy the Lego Brand. This kit has missing parts, parts scattered thru out all the bags, numbered bags do not coincide with directions, directions and color coding very difficult to follow, some parts do not fit where the directions show to be placed, multiple pieces do not lock in together, lighting kit wires are not colored to hide in the model. We build a lot of Lego brand kits and have zero problems. This kit is extremely frustrating. Two of us working it at 12 hours have only completed 1/2 of it due to having to refit parts.

We bought this for my husband who is a Lego fanatic and he absolutely loves it! It was such a good deal to include the lighting set up with the ship. It looks absolutely amazing and he had so much fun.

Très beau bateau, les briques sont de bonne qualité même si parfois elles sont plus difficiles à assembler. Le mode d'emploi est très bien fait. Plusieurs heures de construction. Il n'y as pas de minifigurine mais j'ai pus mettre celle que j'avais.

Good kit and c/w Lego good value. Some pieces not as tight a fit and the rear deck in particular needed the help of some glue to provide stability. That said there were no missing parts and the instructions were very reminiscent of the leading brand and easy to follow. You do need nippers or a craft knife for the rigging but the block tool and the tweezers provided are very useful. The lights give it the wow factor. Note Lego Pirates of the Caribbean figures in pictures are not included but installed for effect.

I'm giving this ship a five star rating even though it hasn't been built yet. Its an easter gift for my son who is really into lego sets but when I looked for the lego black pearl it was ridiculously expensive so, when I found this one and the other ratings on it are all great I said I'd give it a go. It looks great and it's nice and big so hopefully it all works out well.

Quality build! Great design, realistic detail. Would recommend!
