Spooks : Complete BBC Series 4 [2002] [DVD]

I recently got hooked on Spooks after catching re-runs on tv. I have just finished season 4 and my biggest complaint is that there isn't enough episodes of Spooks per series!Each episode in season 4 was fantastic from 1-10. Martine McCutcheon was a brilliant addition to episode 1 but the best episode as you'd expect was episode 10. Season 4 sees the usual betrayals, backstabbing, power-struggles, terrorists and conspiracies that we're used to seeing with Spooks but the finale to season 4 is by far the best finale yet! I wish they'd hurry up and get season 5 on dvd as I'm getting withdrawal symptoms already!

SAFE READING - NO SPOILERSBe warned - for some reason quite difficult to explain, "Spooks" is addictive. Watch it on television and buy one series to catch up on one you missed - often cheaper than one evening at the cinema - and you will buy another and another then find yourself sitting at home in the darkness watching them with friends, wives/husbands, sharing them with other members of the family and generally having hours of harmless fun. If you know London, you might find yourself spotting places or discussing the plots with family and friends.Like life, some episodes are better than others, but they're well worth living through just for the fun of it. Recommended but, be warned. You will want the next one and need another book/CDshelf soon.

Great story with good actors

A well made and brilliantly acted series.

I have watched Spooks over the years on BBC and this is the first programme I have ever bought on Box Set. It is probably the best action/drama I have seen on TV in years.Brings us hours of enjoyment.Will definately bring series 5 and 6 on with me on holidays along with the paperback to unwind the brain into a relax time and recharge the batteries. If this doesnt make sense the series is brilliant and well worth watching.

As a follower of the spooks series, I looked forward to the series and I wasn't disappointed for 1 minute. Even though I saw the episodes on tele, the second time round is just as tense and gripping. Spooks clever script writing is a joy to follow with twists and the uncertainty of characters safety adding a welcome edge to the stories. Rupert Penry Jones is sensational form playing his character.

I bought every video in this series and I wish there were more to come. Shame it has ended. Lots of drama and action and very contemporary themes at the time. Great actors all through and although many were changed through out the series that did not take anything away from it in fact each actor who came after had as much to offer if not more that the one who had left.

I was really hesitant to buy Series 4 after Series 3. I thought 1 and 2 were good but started to meander as various characters were written out. Series 3 felt like all the writers went on vacation and good actors were left with ridiculous storylines.The good news is that the show is back to its old form! If you liked series 1 and 2, the the show has found itself again and picks up the pace with improved storylines, better writing, and interesting, new characters. (Yes, the characters are a little underdevelped and the relationships rushed, but everything can't be perfect.)Kudos to the writers!

How different agents fit in.

Muy bien dirigida e interpretada, con actores como Rupert Penry Jones que es una gozada verlos en acción y en un aspecto más familiar y tierno.Algunas veces las tramas son tan complicadas , para el tiempo que dura cada episodio,que me resultaba dificil saber exactamente què estaba pasando o por què había pasado.La recomendaría a los amantes del cine de espionaje, aunque no se parece mucho a lo que habitualmente hemos visto en el cine.

C'est bien la digne suite de MI 5 saisons 1, 2 et 3 mais attention, c'est exclusivement en anglais ( bande audio et sous titres) et ce n'est précisé nulle part. Sinon, ça a le charme et les scénarios efficaces de MI 5.

Eigentlich hatte ich nach Staffel Nr. 3 so meine Zweifel, ob Spooks das bis dahin gebotene hohe Niveau würde halten können. Schließlich verabschiedeten sich nach und nach 3 wichtige Hauptdarsteller aus der Serie. Zuschauer, deren Befürchtungen in eine ähnliche Richtung tendieren, kann ich jedoch beruhigen.In erneut 10 Episoden je knapp 60 Minuten kämpfen die Agentinnen und Agenten des britischen MI:5 erneut gegen diverse Bedrohungen aus dem In- u. Ausland. Dabei ist Spooks auch weiterhin in allen Belangen 1A produziert. Von den klugen, aktuellen und vor allem spannenden Drehbüchern über die wirklich gute Besetzung bis hin zu der coolen und edlen Optik der Show passt einfach alles prima zusammen.Obwohl der Vergleich ein wenig hinkt, erinnert mich Spooks doch an die amerikanische Serie 24 mit Kiefer Sutherland. Die Handlung von Spooks spielt sich zwar nicht in Echtzeit ab, die besondere Intensität der Stories fesselt aber auch hier den Zuschauer. Auch bei Spooks ist keinesfalls gewährleistet, dass alle Mitglieder des Teams eine Staffel überleben. So verliert der MI:5 auch in der aktuellen Staffel ein Mitglied. Dafür taucht jedoch ab Mitte der Staffel ein neues Gesicht auf und ergänzt die Agentenriege.Das Bonusmaterial ist dieses Mal etwas übersichtlicher als bisher gewohnt ausgefallen. Auf den insgesamt 5 DVDs finden sich 3 Beiträge. Dabei handelt es sich um recht interessante Interviews mit dem Cast, einem Regisseur sowie dem Produzenten. Aufgelockert werden die Statements von Episodenausschnitten und einigen Behind-The-Scenes-Eindrücken. Die Extras sind im Gegensatz zu den 10 Folgen leider nicht mit englischen Untertiteln versehen. Das ist etwas ärgerlich, da die "Freiluft"-Interviews zeitweise regelrecht vom Winde verweht sind und die Befragten somit recht schwer zu verstehen sind.Abschließend kann ich die 4. Staffel von Spooks wirklich jedem Anhänger der Serie bedenkenlos empfehlen. Und wer die Serie bisher noch nicht kennt, sollte sich schleunigst die 1. Staffel zulegen.
