Good product with a fair price
I had a Sears made by Ecopure water softener for 20 years. I brought this as the replacement for five people in the house. I cut out the old one, and put in the new one. I used a cutting wheel to cut my old 1 inch adaptors out because this new one was not a direct fit for the Sears one. It was close but the new control water valve is a half inch off center with the old one. I used the new control valve shipped with the unit. I used snap on water lines to my 3/4 inch water lines and the other end, the female 1 inch connecters screwed on and were tightened with a wrench. I was surprised at how tight I had to make the connection to make it leak-free. I had to tighten all the way down, so much so I was thinking there was something wrong but it was water-tight. This unit's brine discharge is a half-inch barb. The old one had a garden hose male screw on plug. I put on the half-inch line supplied with the unit, added a clamp, and then connected the other end to a male barb on the back of a garden hose female connector I got at a big box store. I brass-barreled this to an existing garden hose I had in place from the old unit. The hose goes through a small drilled out hole in my foundation to outside and into a curtain drain so the brine discharge goes through the drain and out about 200 feet from the house and not into a cement septic tank as salt + cement=trouble down the road. I plugged the unit it, added salt, regenerated, and everything was fine. No leaks, no problems. This was so easy to install. I like the digital screen. The reason I got this unit was because it so closely resembled my old one. I already knew how to operate it. It would have been nice to just slide it into the old connector but then again who wants to trust a 20 year old water softener valve? Best to go all new. Plumbing was a breeze. Plug and play. Time will tell how this unit does service-wise but I am confident in the Ecopure name. So far, so good and the water is soft again.

Kenmore Replacement
Bought this to replace my 16 yr old Kenmore 280 series softener. Researched other softeners at big box stores and what sold me was that EcoPure is part of Water Channel Partners, LLC...a company that has been in the water softener business since 1925 and had purchased the rights to the reliable Kenmore brand. In fact, the EP31 is nearly identical to the design of my series 280 to the point where installation took all of 10 mins using existing plumbing lines/fittings without modifications. Was even able to insert and reuse the old bypass valve without disconnecting it from the inlet/outlet water lines. Been in service for a week now and our new softener is doing the job just fine. My only reservation in buying online was the shipping & handling in transit. Softeners are not to be laid down on their side and was hesitant to trust those responsible for delivery to know this. However, it arrived right side up and intact. Watched the guys unload it from the delivery truck and they kept it upright while assuring me it was properly loaded onto the truck as well. Could only hope it was handled correctly from the point of manufacturer, too...but, that would be the case no matter if I picked one up locally. Softener was well packed and supported inside the box, too. All said, I'm very pleased with my decision. Hopefully, it will last another 16 yrs. or more. UPDATE: It's now been a year since I installed this softener. Has been working flawlessly.

Crappy Ecopure system
I installed and it worked about a month. Got err 1. Studied troubleshooting guide and was so fed up I called a sepcialist, Rain Water Conditioning of Las Vegas. He noted that the resin was leaking into to sail water reservoir. The pump has cracks and showed evidence of salt deposits through the cracks. I replaced the unimpressive with more expensive device, but work DS with no problems. Returne the Ecopure device to Amazon and got my money back. Very happy now.

Water softener
The unit I received looked nothing like the displayed photo. Also, I bought this unit after some extensive dimensional research in hopes of swapping out my old Sears water softener. All dimensions were spot on except for the 1/2" in width shorter bypass valve of the unit. It now requires a re-plumbing to get it connected

Perfect replacement for our old Kenmore
Very happy with our purchase so far. The control panel on our 19-year-old Kenmore water softener had been acting up for some time. It wouldn't cycle automatically and we'd have to remember to manually start a cycle every few days, until finally it wouldn't even do that. I chose this model as they were the manufacturer of our Kenmore, and measurements I found on the Eco-Pure web site told me that the dimensions of the connecting pipes should be the same as our old model. That turned out to be correct and I was able to install the new softener myself without difficulty. As it turns out though we had to call a plumber anyway, because one of our old shut-off valves was jammed from lime and corrosion and had to be replaced. Once the plumber left, I plugged the new softener in, added salt and we were back in business. I used the occasion to drain the water heater too, which is something that should be done periodically that I have neglected to do. By doing this now though we got soft water immediately after the softener completed its first cycle, rather than having to wait for the hard water to work its way out of the water heater. Programming is nearly the same as what we were used to with the Kenmore, with a few extra bells and whistles like salt level. If you're familiar with programming a Kenmore water softener, this will be immediately familiar to you. The unit arrived undamaged, though the wingnut and screw that hold the float casing in place had worked loose during transport and were found in the bottom of the carton. By looking at my old softener I could see where they were supposed to go and all was fine once reattached.

Perfect Replacement !!!
Absolutely the best replacement for our previous Kenmore 300 Series Water Softener. It matched up to our previous water pipes and bypass pipe perfectly without any extra pipe fittings. It was an โcodeโ fit! Our plumber/installer was tremendously impressed with my research on this Acupure. Thank you for the indepth description and illustration with measurements. 5 Star!! โ-katie

It works. But it's not fully compatible.
I bought this specifically to replace an older kenmore that looks the same. Just keep in mind, if you are buying this so you can quickly and easily install it, it is not the same. The bypass valve is different, so you need to cut and adapt your plumbing. Even the discharge outlet is different, previously using a hose size thread now a cheap barbed fitting for a provided hose. As I had the previous drain behind a finished wall, this made the install much more complicated. Also, as a general observation, the quality has dropped between this and my old unit. Even the discharge connector is smaller, and broke while trying to thread a brass connector on it. I was able to fix it myself by melting another brass connector into it.. but I don't have the confidence that I will see 20 years service out of this one like I did my last. Bottom line : If a deciding factor for your purchase is ease of installation because you are replacing a kenmore, then this unit it not for you. Select a unit that meets your other requirements, as this will likely not be a "plug and play" option for you.

Lasted 6 months
Quit working after 6 months, did all the trouble shooting provided by seller. Contacted seller and explained the issue and they wanted be to explain in a way you would have to be a professional repairman to understand. So no warranty repair service was provided. Would not recommend.
