great model... difficult to build and one might break parts along the way... but UGEARS will provide replacement parts even if you keep breaking them...

The best UGEARS model I have to date, that is after 10 plus of their products. However, I highly recommend you do not get this for your very first or even second UGEARS purchase, you need some experience for this one. But once you do have that you will truly enjoy the assembly and the finished product.

Worst puzzle ever. I have done probably 20 wood puzzles mechanical and non mechanical. This was awful and I threw it away part way through the build !!! The pieces broke at almost every step and directions were terrible. A waste of time and money ! Yes they give you extra pieces for certain parts but guess what - the extras broke too!!!!

Very detailed. If you know much about engines, you will love this one. Complete with timing chain, cam, valves and dipstick, this model will take some very patient time to complete, but if you follow the directions, and even on-line help in difficult areas, it is worth the time. Very rewarding when you plug it in, and all the parts works the way they should.

Pieces are too fragile and there were no replacements causing the failure of the action.

I delayed ordering this kit because of the cost. That was a mistake! This was a challenging and thoroughly satisfying kit to build. There is so much detail, that my friends are amazed to watch it run. One man who was a racing mechanic, is particularly impressed with the completed engine. This is NOT for an inexperienced kit builder, but if you have built several of the simpler kits, you will have a wonderful time with this one. One big tip: Do not scrimp on waxing EVERY moving part! Especially the timing chain.

Well… I have built a few of these models in the past. All with good results. This is one I wanted to push my capabilities. As I moved through the instruction pages, I realized that the very fine details of the instructions were critical to success. I admit that I needed to un-assemble a few times in order to sand and treat the pieces adequately. In fact, I used and recommend a small Dremel Tool for sanding and shaping. I also have to admit that I did use a small amount of wood glue only on the outer side of the chain to reinforce strength integrity. Probably didn’t need it but rather be safe than embarrassed on Thanksgiving in front of all my relatives. The final verdict is this is an amazing model. I am an engineer, and I find the engineering behind the actual design process to create such intricate models out of just a bunch of thin plywood pieces simply mind blowing. The V8 Engine works perfectly and even mesmerizes my two engineering sons and potential engineering grandson. I am now building a Wall Clock.

Lot was well thought out and fun to put together. My only complaint is the plywood chipped and the laminations separated, I had to be very careful not to brake the parts just pressing them out and separating them from the parts sheets!

This is an excellent model to build, quite tricky at times and you have to be careful to get parts oriented correctly. Some sections of the assembly were a little tedious - building the timing chain for example, but the results were worth the effort. Lots of interconnecting parts that need to align correctly and work smoothly together. I’d love to dismantle it and build it again but it would be really difficult to get one or two of them out without damage.

Ich war auf der Suche nach einem besonderen Geschenk für meinen Freund, der Ingenieur ist und eine große Leidenschaft für Mechanik und technische Herausforderungen hat. Als ich den Bausatz entdeckte, hoffte ich er muss etwas tüfteln und es ist nicht zu langweilig. Und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht.. Für jemanden mit technischem Verständnis ist dieser Bausatz ein absolutes Highlight. Die lasergeschnittenen Holzteile sind professionell hergestellt und die Mechanik funktioniert ohne Kleber o.ä.. Als Laie würde ich schon sagen, dass es anspruchsvolle ist, man ist definitiv nicht innerhalb von einer Stunde fertig. Viele Teile sind sehr klein und präzise. Das Highlight ist natürlich, dass der Motor nach dem Zusammenbau tatsächlich funktioniert! Mir wurde gesagt: „Man kann die Kolbenbewegung und die Kurbelwelle in Aktion sehen, was sehr cool ist.“ :D Die Qualität des Holzes ist gut, und die Teile passen, mit ein bisschen schleifen, sehr gut ineinander. Montagewerkzeug, Schleifpapier und Wachs sind mit dabei. Ich kann den Bausatz nur weiterempfehlen!
