Will this cable be used to connect my vga monitor (hp 1912nm) to the hdmi connector? or you will not transmit the video

Will this work for my pc (hdmi port) to an old monitor (vga port) ?

It should, that's what I use them for at the office. Our new gen laptops to old Dell monitors some of which we've been using for 15 years!
