not for me
I will give it high marks, Re: it does work well but the connectivity for me was the issue. The add on the page says it will communicate rs232 and such then says USB but that is marked the 660DLafter receiving the device I find the 660 does not connect to anything but its own remote (extra of course) or I can get another 770 (something with a 7XX number) and connect rs232.If you need serial connection for what you are doing this is not the unit.

Does just what it says it does.
Easy to set up, number looks perfectly believable. After a long drought in Southern California I decided I really need to know whats going on down in my well. We haven't had any problems, but I want to be sure we stay that way. Now I can see, my water level is a fair bit lower than the well company has reported during visits in the past, but recovery looks good still. Nice little bit of piece of mind.

Doesn’t work for my well configuration
Did not work for my well. The actual static water level is about 120 feet down and I am unable to get any consistent or correct readings. Tried various settings and get different displayed measurements - none of them right. I just bought a manual depth gage and put the sonic unit back in its box. I recommend a potential buyer really research if the sonic device will work for their well configuration. It did not work for mine.

Good for anyone with a well
Finally finding out how my well is behaving during this dry summer

Peace of mind for people with uncertainty about their water wells.
I live in N. Cal and purchased one of these during our 5 year drought because we had no idea where the depth of our well was. We didn't know if we should plant a garden, stop taking showers, etc. This product took away the uncertainty and allowed us to monitor our well depth. Furthermore, this product has an RS-232 output, which I connected to a Raspberry Pi 2. This allowed me to record well depth data, as well as read the unit from an ipad while watching TV. (You can read about how I did this on my blog: http://banjolanddesign.com/logging-well-depth-with-a-raspberry-pi.htmlThe only downside is that the product is not waterproof, which I found out the hard way. ALL of the photographs on the company's website shows the product on wells exposed to the elements. If you mount yours out in a field, it will permanently die after the first few rains. You MUST provide protection. I did this by putting a bucket upside down over the unit. It has run without fail now for many months. Fortunately, the company has great customer service and quickly replaced my unit without any hassles whatsoever, so +1 star for that. You will also need a power source at the unit. The product comes with a 9V power supply, but if you don't have a 110V plug at your well, you will have to do some jerry rigging. I ran a wire from my barn to my well to carry both the 9V power as well as the RS232 signal.Other reviews have noted that the device can pick up erroneous signals from case joints and pipe fittings. This happened with mine. However, with a little experimentation, you can set the minimum depth levels to ignore reflections from non-water-level objects above the water column. You simply trigger the well pump, then look for the reading to change. It it doesn't, drop the minimum depth setting down 20' and try again. Finally, by noting the depth that the water column drops down, timing the rate at which it rises, you can determine your well's refresh rate. Keep your water usage way below your daily refresh rate, and you should have no problems.

Easy to install
Easy to install, very accurate (agreed with my well guys measurements), AWESOME customer service. I installed the wireless receiver in the garage and it hooked up great. NOTE: I had to drill a hole in my well cap, the vent on mine is a drop over kind, so there is no hole to stick the well watch through. Once I got the hole drilled it worked great. Looking forward to monitoring my water!
