With My Daddy: A Book of Love and Family (Growing Hearts)

Lovely book! Love this author! I also like another customer was alarmed when I read the page about the dad grabbing her tight and yelling “THATS ENOUGH”. I understand seen in the illustration it was trying to aim at controlling her storm and holding space for her, but man the wording is yikes! I actually inked it out and rewrote it to match how our daddy would respond. I changed it to “wraps his arms around me tight and says I’m here for you Hunnie.” :) Also blacked out the next line that said “Dad loosens his grip”! Glad I caught that before we read it for first time as Dads Father’s Day gift lol!

I love this story but not a fan of the illustrations. Also, the part where the dad grabs the girl and yells that's enough is a little off-putting if yours is a non-physical discipline household and you try to avoid yelling.

We love this book! I bought this as a gift for my husband for father's day, and our 2 year old really enjoys reading this. A lot of the things the little girl in the book does with her dad, my husband also does with our daughter so it makes it that much better. I look forward to getting more books by Jo Witek. I love the thought put into this book. The beginning is the father watering a small tree and when you get to the end the tree has become a big, big tree.

Not a book about family at all but it is a book about dad and daughter. The book is great tho as it shows an action, how dad is involved and then it closes it by relating a feeling or description to dad and his love for his daughter. It's a nice book definitely for kids over 5 under that they dont have the attention span.

I love the illustrations and the daddy-daughter moments but like some other reviewers, I was very put off by the page with the line "STOP, THAT'S ENOUGH." This makes it seem like her feelings are not valid and she is rushed from what she is feeling. It is our job as parents to help them understand that their feelings are normal and how to respond to them. In our household, instead we say, "I understand that you must be feeling angry/upset because...[insert reason]."

This book is absolutely lovely and deep. I especially enjoy the healthy bond reflected between father and daughter when negative and hard to comprehend emotions arise. It is a wonderful reminder to all tiny ones that your people are your people through the positive, scary, and negative. This along with Nancy Tillman's "Wherever you are: my love will find you" make a beautiful addition to families interested in making clear that their child has the deepest roots of strength and tenacity in the love you give them.

Gave this to my husband for Father’s Day and he loves read this with our 3-year old. It can be hard to find good kids books highlighting daddy/daughter bonds and this one is sweet and fun to read.

Such a sweet book. My son loves to read it and I love that it reinforces all the wonderful things about his relationship with his dad. Bought for Father’s Day and want to get the other books by this author!

A beautiful book, my daughter loves it.

I bought this for my husband for his first father’s day and he ABSOLUTELY loved the book. It’s a really sweet story about the bond between a daughter and her daddy. Super sweet and the illustrations are quite nice too. A must-have for every father-daughter relationship.

I was looking for a story about the relation of fathers and daughter, as I find that many times children books focus on the mother figure (which is fine).I bought this as a Christmas gift from our daughter to her daddy and I must say he really loves the story, It is well written and the drawings are nice. The story of the book is empowering for young girls. So I am very happy with this book. I can recommend it.

A wonderfully written story which is beatifully illustrated. A challenge to any dad to read it without having a lump in his throat.
