Moxie: The Dachshund of Fallingwater

upper grade school level (Gr 3-5)
This is a story about the Franklin Llyod Wright's home "Fallingwater". It's a great book about his architectural style, and how it was created for the owners and their 7 dachshunds. In 1964, the house became a museum open to the public. The proceeds of this book go directly to preserving Fallingwater and supporting its education programs. Definitely more suited to older primary grades.

Great story
I love dachshunds and interesting architecture so this was perfect for me. I had really never read much about this house; now I would love to go there. The book is advanced for my granddaughter (3)and I think I enjoyed it more than she did. She did enjoy all the things the doxies did. I enjoyed reading more about the history of the house.

One of the most darling books I've ever read
When we went to Fallingwater, we saw where the dachshunds lived. That was a real treat.

Terrific!
I bought this for my 8 year old granddaughter who wants to be an architect. This is a cute story and so informative. She loves Frank Lloyd Wright so needless to say, it's one of her favorites. Her first love is Iggy Peck, the Arcitect.

Really? Or is it a fairy tale?!
Cara Armstrong writes an inventive tale of the dashounds that resided at Fallingwater. Mostly fairy tale. I grew up on the Kaufmann estate and my family spent some time in residence at Fallingwater during the week, often taking care of the dashounds. The dogs usually resided in the car port below the servqnts' quarters (now the Fallingwater offices) and traveled regularly from Pittsburgh to Fallingwater during the weekend the Kaufmanns were in residence. When Mr Kaufmann passed away in the mid 50's, we inheritated the dogs. My father was general caretaker for Fallingwater for nearly 40 years, having helped build it in 1936 and later being employed by the Kaufmanns and later the WPC well into his early 80's. He and Mr. Kaufmann, I think, were the only ones who could actually control the contrite nature of the dogs. A good read, nonetheless.

Who can resist the combo - Fallingwater and dachshunds
I've always been interested in the 'bunch' of dachshunds who used to dash around Fallingwater. This long-awaited book is a keeper, offering a unique perspective of the great place. I hope there'll be a book of photos in the offing and wish a few had been included here and there.

Nice illustrations
I gave this book to a coworker as a gift during our holiday gift exchange. She is interested in visiting Falling Water and is a dog lover. She thanked me over and over again for the thoughtful gift.

Picture book for both children and adults
Moxie was one of the Dachshunds that lived and played at Fallingwater. Delightful picture book about their life and the famous Frank Lloyd Wright house.
