Mad Men - Season 3 [Blu-ray]

Either you get it or not
Mad Men is perhaps the most stylish and wonderful programme to come out of America in an age. It "feels" exactly as I remember the early 60s and the clothes are perfect. Series 3 follows the antics of those Madison Avenue boys and girls as they adjust to being a subsidary of an English company. It teases and plays with the back story of just exactly who Don really is and gives some hints as to how Dick became Don! (Oh watch the thing!) Joan continues to smash her way through the wild sexual dreams of every male on the planet and somehow still keeps the affections of the women!America evolves, the old certainties erode and the hints of the coming 60s revolutions appear. Drink gives way to dope, blacks start to come to the fore and women begin to see that they are locked in golden chains. The series ends on a titanic high that will have you cheering.Great, rollocking stuff and highly addictive!

Dislike the Drapers
The pure selfishness of the Drapers grates. Betty has so much yet doesn't appreciate it. The beauty of the Drapers is all that matters to people - not their characters which are the opposite - when do they ever help others, from friends, neighbours and colleagues in need to taking the family house and car from Betty 's much poorer brother. They - especially Betty - order their kids around with contempt; the grandpa spent more time with, and gave more love to, the kids in just one episode.Feedback welcome - interested to hear if you agree.

Watch Season 1 through 7 - you won't regret it!
From Season 1 through to Season 7 I was enthralled. It is my favourite series of all time. The changing times and the fashions through the decades coupled with the troubled life of Don Draper must keep most viewers glued to their seats. Start at the beginning and go on to the end. It's the only way to watch it! You won't be disappointed I promise.

Love the series but why have I suddenly got to pay for it??
I was very much enjoying Mad Men having watched both series 1, 2 and half of 3. However, having logged back onto Amazon Prime video after a few weeks of not using it, it appears all the seasons which were previously included for free in my prime membership, I now have to pay for?I've checked my Prime account and all seems well - has this suddenly changed? Seems odd and not very customer friendly... there clearly wasn't a chair free for me in the meeting where this was decided....

Best TV drama series since the Sopranos
Brilliant - everything good that other people have said about this is true. I'm looking forward to Series 4 already.(One small speculative observation. The storyline features an unattractive British company that takes over an all-American enterprise and messes our heroes about. Watching this at the same time as the BP oil spill I suspect that the fictional series influenced US reaction to the real-life event, in the same way that the American perception of British history is based on Mel Gibson films. Did President Obama watch Mad Men? Bet he did.)

Quality drama
Haven't followed a series like this since Peyton Place - about people, 3 dimensional and flawed set against 60s background of boorish sexism, consumerism and materialism, environmental and health ignorance, misplaced values. True, these things are still with us but we have come some way. If you're into thoughtful well written and well acted drama and don't need FX and petrochemical explosions to float your boat buy this series.

MadMen3
Another excellent series of Mad Men. Don has learned nothing from the near loss of his family due to his playing away, and continues on philandering. We see things start to fall apart for Don, both at home and at work. This is definitely the best series yet, with the invasion of an English company taking over the agency, some of the episodes are hilarious. There are one or two episodes that wander off the point, but this doesn't detract from the viewer's enjoyment. As usual, I cannot wait for the next series.

Critics Just Might Be Right About This
If you have just read about this show but never actually watched it then just maybe you should. Yes for once this is a TV programme that seems to get a lot of rave reviews from the few people who have tuned in. From the ordinary everyday viewer to the sternest critic it seems to get a lot of praise. For once all of these people might just be right.Yes, it is a show that not a lot seems to happen in a single episode but like a lot of the best programmes things evolve over time. Set in the advertising world of 1960's New York the creators have done their best with convincing world set in this era with the writers and actors all excellent.Yes. A very good show as i have said but do not be tempted to just watch now and again as people i know have tried. To get the best from this you really have to watch MAD MEN seasons 1 and 2 as well as this one and just see all the slow moving stories move and evolve into epic television.
