Game Development with Unity

the layout of the book is well put together, it tells you a lot of what you need to know and how to do things i didn't learn at the university i went to.they even recommended to get this to learn morerecommended to do the whole book from start to finish while doing the exercises along with the book to get a practical understanding of the way it works.worth the money in my opinion.

This book is brilliant it describes everything you would want to know about the Unity engine from starting small to writing your first complete game, I would recommend it to anyone wanting to break into using the Unity engine. Also there is a CD that comes with it packed with source code and examples too :)

Great value and excelent intro do Unity, I didn't read them all but I would say the best and mandatory for beginners in Unity that want a quick overview and some survival formulas to sucessfuly enjoying making your own games.The demos work out of the box, compared with other books that are twice the price and had nothing working.I will keep this one in my shelf as a good reference for the simplicity, solid knowledge and great content, where some pearls of wisdom are once in a while included.

Very useful information, just what I needed. Keep the updates coming as they are good to keep up to speed.

Is not bad book but is more like an extensive tour over the different options that unity brings than something focusing in teach advanced knowledge.

I would not recommend this book to anyone currently. The book is in my opinion either out of date or syntactically incorrect. Which for a programming book makes it useful for starting fires and that's about all. Following through the example will eventually lead you to issues that are difficult to understand and therefore fix. It's gone on to my shelf and I have reverted to using the examples on the Unity website itself, which I should have done in the first place. At least I know I will be able to get support with these issues if I come across any and will be learning the current best practices, syntax and vernacular. I would recommend everyone else to do the same. I'm actually annoyed I opened the DVD as I would otherwise return the book.

Purchased most of the Unity Development books available on Amazon, and must say this is by far the best. The pace of the book is superb, the project is practical and interesting, and the step by step approach is near perfect.Additionally, the writer's approach is direct and simple, which makes the book easy to follow and cuts out the "Aren't games brilliant" faff, which is abundant in the other books.Highly recommend this book to all budding Unity Developers.

Very good book covering most of the important issues. The writer takes the reader from basic concepts and then gradually introduces reasonably complex but necessary scripting. It's quite a modestly sized book and yet it seems to cover most aspects of the Unity game development system.The DVD contains all of the scripts and a finished executable of the game. The only problem is that the game doesn't load. I tried it on 2 different PCs but to no avail. I would have awarded 5 stars but for this strange issue.
