The Road to Makkah describes the happiness and sense of reality brought to one man by the Muslim way of life. The author does not wish to preach or to convert. He speaks only of his own unique experiences upon the road he has travelled and in so doing he has written a book of outstanding power and insight. Review: amazing descriptive writing - A must read, well written, amazing descriptive writing, grips you all the way. Amazing pearls of wisdom by a man who had a conscience. May Allah, the Lord of the Worlds accept his noble effort in explaining Islam in a simple way through his travels. Review: one of the best books I've read this year - This is, hands down, one of the best books i've read this year. It was well written, i lived vicariously throuhh him and i thoroughly enjoyed this book. I don't even lend my copy out to friends in fear of not receiving it back

One of the Best Books that I have Read
The Road to Mecca follows the journeys of Muhammad Asad through the Muslim world and also tells the extraordinary story of Muhammad Asad coming in terms with his destiny and finally into the world of Islam, meanwhile explaining some of the very important questions coming into the mind of a non-muslim while looking at Islam. Written in a very lucid style, hooks the reader from the very beginning. Although written in a period long gone by, but still remains equally relevant to to today's world (if not even more).

Very well written account
I liked the narration and truthfulness of the writer. The book is absorbing and gives a completely different angle from other writers on this topic.

A good book for serious readers.
A good book, but not every one's cup of tea. The book covers the life and journey of the author towards Islam. How, when and where he met the legends of his time. Very interesting book.

Jewish Traveler in Arabia
Muhammad Asad (Leopold Weiss born on 2 July 1900 to a Jewish family in Lemberg, died in 1997) was a Jewish-born Austro-Hungarian born journalist, traveler, writer, linguist, thinker, political theorist, diplomat and Islamic scholar. Asad was one of the most influential European Muslims of the 20th century. This book is one of the best books of adventure in wilderness of Arabia 70 years ago, and many other places, elegant, it is a part of his biography, reads like a fiction, and rich of information about so many ideas and places. Asad is the father of Talal Asad.
