Black Rice Night Knight Retinol Serum is the first retinol product I’ve ever tried. I had always been hesitant about retinol because I feared it would be too harsh and drying for my skin. Despite reading countless positive reviews, I worried it might do more harm than good, so I stayed away—until my favorite brand, haruharu wonder, launched their own retinol serum. That’s when I finally felt confident enough to give it a try.This serum contains 0.08% vegan retinol, bakuchiol (just like their amazing eye cream), and adenosine. I’ve been using it every night since its release, and it has been incredibly gentle yet effective. My skin looks brighter, more even-toned, and firmer, and I’ve noticed a reduction in fine lines. I also don’t exfoliate as often as I used to because my skin’s natural renewal process feels more balanced—without any irritation!If you’re new to retinol, this is the perfect beginner-friendly option.

This serum came in a branded box with a safety seal, labeled in both Korean and English. It's actually a combination of a very low concentration of retinol and a higher combination of bakuchiol (a plant-based retinol substitute especially popular in K-beauty).I've recently started using more bakuchiol products and it really does have a lot of the firming and smoothing effects of retinols with almost none of the irritation risk. This serum seems to add just enough "real" retinol to boost the results while still keeping it very gentle. I most notice the difference (compared to 1-2% of just bakuchiol) when it comes to pores/texture.I have normal, generally non-sensitive skin. This serum has a lightweight texture, between a serum and light lotion. It absorbs quickly with a relatively matte finish. There is a mild, slightly herbal/medicinal scent that dissipates quickly after applying. The expiration date was about 18 months out.I'm happy with the product and results, but deducted a star for the value compared to similar Korean skincare products and for leading with this as a "retinol" serum which I think implies a higher concentration than 0.08%. The combination of bakuchiol and a small retinol boost seems effective, and I think they should market leading with that!

I recently discovered this amazing brand.If I could give it 10 stars I would. I rarely review products, but this deserves it. My skin is looking and feeling great.

Love the design and coloring of the bottle. It is a pump function with no cap so I don't have to worry about losing/dropping the cap and also dipping my finger and contaminating the cream. The consistency is milky and lovely. It spreads easily across my face where the liquid has no scent to it. It's so soft on my skin and helps to not only moisturize it, but also to help increase cell turnover to reduce acne. Very happy with its effects thus far!

I’ve been using the Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Night Knight Retinol Serum for a few weeks now, and I’m really impressed! First off, the packaging is sleek and the pump dispenser makes it so easy to use without making a mess. I love that it’s a nighttime serum because I feel like it gives my skin the perfect overnight boost.The texture is light and absorbs quickly into the skin, which I really appreciate. It doesn’t feel heavy or greasy at all, and my skin feels smooth and moisturized when I wake up. I’ve noticed my skin looking more even and refreshed in the morning, which is awesome.As for the retinol, it’s gentle, which is a big plus for me since I have somewhat sensitive skin. I haven’t experienced any irritation, which can sometimes happen with retinol products. I haven’t seen dramatic changes in wrinkles yet, but I do feel like my skin looks a little firmer, and the overall texture has improved.

Good! I love the dispenser for one, feels luxurious for sure. The serum is hydrating and blends nicely imo, can't assess tackiness because I always moisturize after. EXCELLENT that there's no added fragrance. The stearates and sunflower seed oil place this on the possible trigger for FA breakouts list for my sensitive skin unfortunatelyBut it seems nicely formulated otherwise, pretty gentle and happy there's not much extras like niacinamide to potentially irritate/complicate. Retinol concentration is super low so I was excited to try because everything so far has caused my skin to freak out
