Just depends on how you place it. Cool thing is once it fills up the receptacle/bucket or whatever the water flows into above the hose opening, the water stops flowing in so there is never any spillage. I found once the receptacle/bucket is full, then the humidifier's receptacle takes over until that is full, then machine shuts off.

Expensive but works perfectly with Frigidaire dehumidifiers. Tried cheaper brands and they all leak a bit. This was easy to put on and zero leaks. And the hose length is great as it gives you more leverage to keep your dehumidifier where you want and not right next to drain.

My sump pump is covered and sealed due to radon remediation. Cons: A bit pricey for 12' of hose, but I haven't bought any hoses for years, so may be out of the inflation loop.
