Waste of money
Product does not work, test morning breath result 1. Test 30 mins after brushing teeth result 2. Dont buy, waste of money. Buy tanita breath checker instead it's more accurate

Breath odor sensor, small enough for a purse. Rechargeable with usb C.
I worry about having bad breath. This is a super simple device that helps to actually measure halitosis. It is described as a MEMS sensor. I had to look that up, it general term for microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) are microscopic sensors, actuators and transducers with moving mechanical parts at the microscopic scale. It uses something like a 32 bit CPU so it is really, really fast. It can easily measure the odor and rate it on a scale of 1~4. Then it suggest some kind of social distancing.. Crazy technology in a stick. The seller explains that bad breath comes from methyl mercaptan (CH3SH) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) . This device can can accurately determine sulfides of bad breath, with an accuracy as high as One Ten Millionth (0.1ppm) . All this technology, but it is so easy to use. The instructions are really helpful, first of all they say to let it charge at least 3 hours before the first use. A usb c cable is included. THere is a pop up sensor on the top, a little push and it opens up. After a long press, the device gives you a countdown while the sensor "heats" up. It does not get hot,, at all. You keep the sensor close to your mouth and blow for five seconds. When it has enough of a sample to work with, it beeps.. and then displays the results. So easy. The results show a big number, which is your score, and a smaller value which is you suggested social distance, in cm. At the very bottom is your breath odor condensity. in parts per million. Overall, I am really fascinated by this. I used it early in the morning and had a 2.. I tested a half hour (recommended by the seller) after brushing my teeth and gargling with mouth wash, and it did go down. I think this would be useful if you had an important meeting and wanted to make a great impression.

Good value but accuracy depends on user
Seems to work. Hard to tell.Wife thought breath was bad sometimes so bought this and mine was 2 and hers was 4. Talk about backfire! Anyway if I eat say Korean food then I will check later so I am not garlicing and kimching people out.As such it's a nice check to have. It seems to be dependent on how close you get and how hard you breathe. Consistency of measuring is important. It would be great if these had a numeric output that is more granular than 1 through 4.

Definitely seems to work
I used to work for a company that would make high-tech lab equipment, so I actually know a bit about the science behind VOC detectors like this, and I was fascinated by the chance to get a little pocket one for myself. Of course, being a crazy cat lady, instead of using this on people, I attempted to measure how stinky all of my cats' breaths were.To my pleasant surprise, this device correctly identified that Harry had the worst breath, matching with what my own nose told me, though it said mine was worse after I ate some onions. It also recognized that when Fiyero burped on it, that was the worst of all.I'm not someone who cares excessively about how smelly my breath is (I brush multiple times a day and I don't commonly eat food like onions), so I can't see myself using this frequently, but it's definitely a fun device to experiment with and it does seem to be accurate in its readings.

Usefulness of this item is marginal
It kind of works? I'm not sure what the true value or trustworthiness of this item may be. In testing, it read at 2 (on a 1 to 4 scale) after lunch. I brushed my teeth, and, as stated in the directions, it reacted to the chemicals present from the toothpaste and registered 3. After waiting another hour, I again tested and it registerd at 2. My husband tested this, and it registered 2 after his lunch. He brushed and waited. It then registered 2. Maybe there's greater value if a person was struggling with bad breath, but, for others, I would assess the value as being marginal. For an item which is being sold for $47.96 (plus a 15% off coupon), I'm not sure that this is a good value. Overall, while it appears to be well made and nicely packaged, I rate this at 2 stars.
