Such a good little unit. Recommended.
This unit is fantastic. Was between this and the Wahoo Element bolt. I've been using a Lezyne Mega XL for a couple of years which was an OK unit with amazing battery life. This 520 plus is leagues ahead. Easy to setup, connects seemlessly to my phone. Livetrack works perfectly and navigation is spot an as you would expect from Garmin. Much better than to use buttons as this doesn't have a touch screen. Links up with strava and endomondo/mapmyride without any issues. Has all the the functions anyone would every need. Battery life isn't bad at all. Getting around 10hrs with standard use. I'm super happy with my choice and wished I did it years ago.

Sometimes less is more
It’s was a gift for my partner for the cycling charity. He is extremely delighted with this gadget and he confirmed that the best feature is none-touch screen control buttons - the old fashion buttons that are much more handy while cycling than getting the screen dirty by touching. High quality navigation, great gps for very affordable price. Synced with phone app, it collect all data and gives overview of the performance that can be reviewed for future bike journeys

All the metrics under the sun and good navigation
I can't call this a long term review as I have had the Edge 520 plus for less than a month. What sold me on this product over the Wahoo Elemnt Bolt is the colour screen, I am slightly dyslexic and for the navigation colour is far more helpful to me than monochrome. Speaking of navigation I would be telling fibs if I didn't mention that it can be a bit slow sometimes however the Edge 520 plus is running what I suppose you can call 'old technology'. It does occasionally need a moment to catch up and if you go off course it can be a bit of a pain about finding an alternative route but these aren't life altering issues in the grand scheme of things and it's nothing that pulling out your smart phone and consulting Google Maps won't assist with.It shows me all the metrics I need for my longer training rides and has customisable screens so you can see exactly what you want. It picks up a GPS signal and various Bluetooth and ant+ gadgets very quickly with no problems at all. Overall the Edge 520 plus does everything I need and more. What is noteworthy is that the Edge 530 is due to he released but I think the 520 plus is a more than viable cycling computer for the vast majority or people. I am very pleased my purchase.

Great addition to my cycling
I was sceptical about needing a computer when I have a fitness watch. However, I have been really pleased with the 520 plus, it works very well and I enjoy my cycling more now I am able to use it to follow a route and see more places, without having to stop to check my direction/ location. I have since purchased the Speed & Cadence sensors along with a HRM band. I don't need to wear my watch now and the Garmin data seamlessly updates my ride stats and it has become fun to analyse. There are a few quirks with it, such as starting a route too near the end and it sometimes stops thinking you are finished. The initial location of a route takes a while to load. The elevation data is often not that accurate (you can update in Garmin Connect/ Strava). It can take you down bridleways/ private roads, so be careful when route planning, or using someone else's route. However, overall I really like it and the battery life, even with navigation, has been good.

RTFM
In simple terms it's great. Only groan is that the 'autopause' function is a bit slow to continue riding. Other than that, it compares well with the 500 on so many levels. to be honest, I got it at a great price compared to the 530 plus and Elemnt Bolt. I suspect that this is because it is being sold off. However, if it is available and at a good price... buy it...... and don't forget a silicon cover as you'll need it in wet weather.

Fussy!
A lot of reviewers seem to have got on with this gadget far better than I, I found it a very imprecise and niggly little handful.Firstly, it took nearly 4 hours to download maps and update itself and crashed my router 5 times. Secondly, the buttons don't give you much physical feedback and at least one third of the time I end up pressing the opposing button due to the way I'm holding it!The mount didn't fit my handle bars or stem without much personal intervention but I persevered and got it sorted. Now lets get a route in and away we go... yes?I set up a route (I used Garmin connect but have also pre-planned routes using Ride with GPS - both are fine) and "synched" it into the device and this was, as has been said, easy enough but getting to the route to navigate was more problematic. It was a procession of button presses, back button presses, down button presses, up button presses etc etc. I assume I'll get used to it eventually.Once I got under way the route disappeared altogether after a mile or so and was replaced with the data screen - I have no idea why or how this happened - many button presses later (see foregoing) and it replaced it with (as it transpired) the same route, under a different name... one that had nothing to do with me.These are, I'm sure, starting off niggles and time will straighten things out. There are a lot of features I'll never use and that's on me and no reason to downscore the device but it's a firm 3 that might, over time, improve to a four,

Great product, return process poor
Needed to return this product as my husband already bought the same one, paid for the Hermes collection and it is so poor the man came to the door and said his scanner wasn’t working and would come another day, 5 days later and still waiting collection. Same man came to drop off another parcel asked him if he was collecting and said no, it’s not down here it’ll come on my scanner maybe in a few days ! On both occasions the driver seemed like it was an inconvenience asked how do I get it collected and he said don’t know just wait it’ll maybe come back up... extremely disappointed with this service.

Was soll ich sagen.
