I'm not sure I buy into the absolute need for WDT, a distributor/tamp does the job pretty well. With that said, I have noticed a more consistent pull between shots on my Breville espresso machine. I often get a very different result from pull to pull. This gadget is easy to assemble, works well, and includes spare needles. I was hesitant to buy any sort of WDT tool simply because they don't seem worth the price, but this one felt like a good enough bang for the buck, and it's actually a nice object in general. Go for it!

Great WDT tool. Does its job well. The stand is convenient and usually stays in place when picking up the tool. My favorite feature is the magnet inside of the handle, I use it to help remove puck screens

It smooths out the coffee grounds perfectly. A must have for your espresso machine.

Simply put, a Weiss Distribution Technique (WDT) tool helps to increase the consistency of the coffee puck in the portafilter by breaking up clumps and eliminating air gaps prior to tamping. I recommend adding one to your espresso kit, and this is a good one.

This WDT tool действительно makes a noticeable difference. Espresso extraction is more even, fewer clumps, better consistency—the tool clearly does what it’s supposed to do, and it improves shot quality in a meaningful way. However, on the second day of use, one needle fell out on its own while the tool was just sitting in the holder. After that, the needle no longer stays in the socket, and even a brand-new spare needle does not hold in that same hole. This appears to be a manufacturing defect of one socket, not user error. I’ve requested a replacement and am currently waiting for it. Aside from this defect, the tool itself is excellent.

It’s perfect! The stand is great and the materials are super nice. Not a single issue or complaint after months of use.

Tried to ‘save’ money with a cheaper tool but after using this I quickly realized what a nice functioning tool this is. Option for 2 different gauge needles are included. Solid buy!
