It's not enough of a percentage to be concerning and it's not even mentioned on most Japanese food not intended to be sold in the U.S.

They list bonito (dry fish flakes) as an ingredient, so I'd say no, not vegetarian. Most miso soups use bonito.

Some miso soups can taste funny. These didn't taste to bitter to me but I do feel like I have has better quality brands and miso soups before.
