Why is the rear flip cover clear? I cannot fathom what the advantage would be.

Not sure what the designers intended, but if you don't have time to flip up the covers, the clear rear cover will allow you to use the sight as an occluded eye gunsight. If both eyes are open, the dominant eye will see the dot and your brain will superimpose the dot correctly on the target as seen by the non-dominant eye.

will this co witness with the iron sights of a Tavor SAR?

Absolutely. I've got mine on a Tavor and co-witness is perfect with the integrated flip up sights.

Anyone use this on a .308?

Yes. Used one on a LR308 for a while. Worked fine, no problems.

Does the box come sealed either with tape or in plastic? My aimpoint box was not sealed in anyway and appeared to have marks on the adjustment screws.

Sales of this optic in Europe come in a sealed box. That is a fact! Just look on YouTube. And the consumer is perfectly warranted in being concerned if a $500 item is delivered in an unsealed box. They have NO way of knowing whether the item had been previously opened, previously purchased or sold, or previously used and returned. No way!
