I recently pick up this Rena Chris metric scale ruler for my architectural studies and it is exactly what I need for my studio work. It is made from solid aluminium which gives it a really nice weight of about 110g, so it doesnt slide around on the paper when I am trying to draw straight lines. The black finish looks very professional and the laser-etched markings are white and very easy to read even in the dim lighting of the library.The range of scales is spot on for most building projects, including 1:20, 1:25, 1:50, 1:100, 1:200, and 1:500. I find it particularly useful that it includes 1:20 for those detailed wall sections and 1:500 for the larger site plans. It is a 30cm ruler which is the standard size, and it feels much more durable than the plastic triangular ones that tend to chip at the edges over time.Compared to using a standard flat ruler and doing the math in your head, this scale rule saves so much time and prevents those annoying calculation errors. You can just read the real-life measurements straight off the page. While a digital CAD program lets you draw at 1:1, having a physical tool like this is essential when you are sketching ideas by hand or checking a printed drawing with a tutor.One thing to keep in mind is that because it is metal, the edges are quite sharp and precise, which is great for accuracy but you have to be careful not to scratch your desk. Also, the black coating might eventually show some wear if you throw it loosely in a bag with other metal tools. Overall, it is a high quality piece of kit for the price and much better than the cheap plastic alternatives you find in most stationery shops.

Fantastic ruler I have brought a fair few normal flat plastic/metal rules in the past and found they are ok, but.. This 3 side triangle type ruler feels way better and seems easier to hold down keeping it in place whilst drawing a straight line. This ruler is solid aluminium, edges rounded, so no shape corners to damage the surface your working on. It comes in a handy plastic triangle tube to keep it in. Pleased with my purchase

Really useful for drawing to scale and scale models. Love that it has a case which I can keep it in but would be better if it had a normal ruler scaling on it.

I often use a scale ruler for architectural use on exact dimensions on drawings. Plastic rulers are fine but not exact enough for the scale dimensions I want, this aluminum scale ruler is made of quality, allowing for sharp straight lines. It’s blue color is perfect for contrast, perfect size and all for a great price!!!
