Bell Hooks is such an inspiration to me. I love reading her work!!! I receive new perspectives and new ways of thinking each time.

One of the best reads of my life. You will walk away from this enlightened and with a new view on love.

Great author

Compared to The Will To Change and All About Love, this was an easier and lighter read. Really great book overall. Would recommend.

This book was a salve for a broken heart in the process of mending itself. It was advice I lacked, unknown to the elder women in my life or at least unspoken. bell is a welcome ghost who speaks with wisdom that should be shared intergenerationally and with all genders. I hope she haunts us for eternity.

This book put a lot of vague concepts I had thought of into words that made sense as well as introduced me to some new concepts and really helped me look at some things more realistically and maturely. I actually got this book from the library years ago and just recently ordered it from Amazon to have in my collection. I know one of these days I will want to reread it, but first I am letting my sister read it because a book this good needs to be shared!

As a white guy, I always love learning from bell hooks. This book is no different. I highly recommend it.

I know that there's some men that can push back on a few of her points but this book is so worth the read and I'm proud to have this book as a reference.

This book allowed me to realize some hard but important truths about myself and love. It’s a great read, it pairs well with bell hooks other book called “The Will To Change”

Este libro les dará ideas, así como les ofrecerá técnicas para usar el patriarcado en su propio beneficio.Algunas partes, leídas con objetividad, son muy divertidas. Como cuando acuerda con su pareja que él ponga la mayor parte del dinero de gastos comunes para que ella, que gana mucho menos, pueda ahorrar, y luego se muestra orgullosa de haber sido lo bastante lista (más que muchas de sus compañeras feministas) como para ahorrar y poder de ese modo abandonarle sin pasar por dificultades económicas. Esto lo cuenta como lo más natural del mundo. Conclusión, aquellas feministas que exigen compartir tareas al 50% pero no comparten gastos al 50% son las feministas más listas (y las más espabiladas, también).Otra muy buena es cuando explica que su pareja debe tener muy claro que si ella no quiere tener relaciones sexuales, incluso durante meses, está en su derecho. Pero, pocas páginas después, indica que si el hombre evita tener relaciones, es por deseo de dominación, algo que llega a llamar terrorismo sexual.Esta señora será una feminista reconocida, pero debería ceñirse a generalidades y no explicar sus intimidades, su biografía, pues entonces aparece una persona narcisista y problemática, con graves dificultades para entender los conceptos de intimidad, reciprocidad e incluso igualdad. Si fuese hombre, sería un machista.
