This is an excellent resource for a new and mature believer
Our Bible study group is going through this. We are half way into it. So far, it has been very encouraging. This is an excellent resource for a new and mature believer. Fundamentals of the Faith goes much more in depth than any other discipleship material I have ever seen. The authority and sufficiency of scripture is the main source for every teaching. Besides equipping us in our Bible study, we are also planning to use it for individual discipleship. It is the best resource I have ever seen for helping a new believer learn about God and His will for their lives. Additionally, some of us are already thinking of using this as a Bible study for our children, grandchildren and when we are together with our family. The exercises all throughout make this a lot more than just a Bible study. It helps the person go from just having the knowledge to truly meditating on it throughout their day. It is hard for me to say I like one area more than another. However, I would like highlight two areas that have encouraged our group. First, I love the detailed section that teaches a believer how to study God's word. The second section is the one that teaches about God's attributes(characteristics). Both of these sections have truly helped us to grow in our knowledge and thoughts about God, thus causing us to love and live for Him more according to His word. I thank God for all the work that John MacArthur and anyone who helped put this together.

Very Valuable Study
I love everything put out by John MacArthur and Grace Community Church. We used this as a midweek study on Wednesday nights during the summer. It was a good survey of theological doctrine. I thought the study was a good cross section of important subjects for new believers as well as a good reminder for believers who have been studying Scripture for a while. I liked the sermons from MacArthur as the opening form the weekly subjects. Some in the class didn’t think the sermons fit the chapters very well. I did not think that. Overall it was a great study and would refer it highly as a great series for new believers to get them started well.

Excellent Study Guide for Discipleship
This is an excellent foundational book for discipleship. It is great for a new disciple of Christ and someone who is mature in Christ. The lessons have depth and are challenging. The ability to access Dr MacArthur's sermons as a supplement to each lesson helps give greater understanding to topics such as the Holy Spirit and Prayer. If you are looking for something to guide you in discipling others I would strongly recommend this study guide. Included are foundational verses for Scripture memory as well for each lesson.

Church Background
I come from a "charismatic" background, as John MacArthur puts it. I am in the middle of this study, and have been struggling. It is good in the respect that it has gotten me scouring the Bible in a way I never have before, so I am learning a lot. I like that he does have sort of a disclaimer in one of his sermons that this is what he believes and he knows other believers who disagree but he can still fellowship with them and he knows that they love the God of the Bible, too. I know I have not studied the Bible as much as he has, but I do not agree with everything he says. I would like to just know the Truth, and I am come humbly to the Bible in prayer and if/when God shows me that it is different than what I know and what I have experienced then I will have to believe it. I don't adhere to everything I learned growing up as I mature in Christ either, but I need to be confident that it IS from Christ and not one man's perspective though. That being said, I respect him and his opinions, I appreciate his love for God and his studying of the Bible, and I am grateful for and inspired by much of what he teaches.

A Must For New Believers
Knowing is very important in Christian life before living. You can’t live if you don’t know how to live. FOF is a great tool that helps new as well as seasoned believers to go through some of the most essential teachings of scripture.I highly recommend this book to everyone who desires to know the foundational truths of the Bible that many churches have sadly failed to teach their people. Blessings!

This is a great workbook for Bible studying at any level
This is a great workbook for Bible studying at any level, but especially for the high school and college group. It covers the basics of Christianity, the Bible and the message of Christ that can be used in many ways. I go through the material together with my students, instead of them having to do it themselves as homework. I download the lecture/sermon for Grace to You and we listen to it together, then we go to the book to work on it together, asking questions and confirming understanding as we move on. It takes a bit longer this way, but I don't believe there's a rush to go through the material. The questions are easy enough to answer, but can be taken deeper. And the students can review the material at home as well.Together with the John MacArthur's sermons, this workbook is a great resource when you want students to be well-grounded in what they know of their faith and also to ensure everyone is on the same page and they haven't picked up something that is not Biblical from social media or elsewhere. Or, if they have, then it provides good opportunities for some honest discussion. Highly recommend it.

Incredible resource for any believer.
Such a great resource. I am leading a women's group using the leader guide, while they follow along with the student guide. This is a very comprehensive and detailed study through some of the basic fundamentals of Christianity that many of us are familiar with but could either use a refresher on, or quite possibly have never studied it to this extent. I'm very grateful to have this resource available! It covers areas like the attributes of God, the person and work of Jesus Christ, salvation, prayer, gifts of the Spirit, church, evangelism, etc. It's thorough and in depth enough for the mature believer without being dry and it is very accessible and easy to understand and follow along with, even for the newest believer. Great for personal or group study.

Only For Baptists
I love Pastor John but there's no escaping in this teaching his baptistic foundations and American dispensationalism. This teaching is fodder for modern Baptists but for Reformed Protestants I would commend a more Ephesians 2:20 hermeneutic. Start with the Heidelberg Catechism and study the Westminster Confession of Faith, with the Belgic Confession and Synod of Dort. Any teaching that suggests we should prevent our infants from receiving the sacrament of Baptism is contrary to Protestantism, the Reformed confessions and Doctrines of Grace. It is a serious error to exclude our infants through denying them the sign that points us to Christ.
