Battery lasts over 25 years
I bought my first ElsiMate in 1993. Sometime in 2018 I started to worry that the battery might run out, so I bought a replacement. Sure enough, the battery ran out in late 2019 after lasting a mere 26 years, actually closer to 27. During those 27 years, I used the ElsiMate a lot, maybe not every day, but certainly several times a week, mostly to crunch money numbers. Never even came close to failing, never had the slightest problem. Worked faithfully, year after year, decade after decade. I intend to replace the battery. Meanwhile I have my brand-new ElsiMate, which worked perfectly out of the box of course. If you want a simple calculator to do simple numbers, and never have to worry about it breaking or running out of battery for a loooooong time, this is it. Highly recommended. Update: March 2020. It looked like the battery had run out, but the calculator started working again and worked for several more months. Finally it started giving unusual display results. I replaced the battery but it had no effect, so it must have been the LCD monitor that conked out, not the battery. So, after 27 years, the calculator has finally given out, but believe it or not the original battery still has juice, it's the display that finally stopped working. I would say I got good value!

Amazon is the best!
I purchased this calculator for myself without looking at the size. It is small for my adult hand but my neighbors grandson loves it! Very accurate, good quality, looks clean and nice, good display and read. Highly recommended!

Very thin calculator.
Incredibly thin and compact. Fits easily in a kid’s pencil bag.

High quality, low price
This little calculator was purchased at the first part of 2012 and is still going strong. I usually keep a solar calculator by my chair which I've had at least 20 years and although it looks beat up, is in fact still going strong. But I wanted a battery hand held one that I didn't have to turn on the light to use. What a nice choice I made with this Sharp and so very cheap.....costing, so far, less than $1.50 a year to use! Yes, the numbers are little and rubbery but hey, cheap and reliable is what I wanted and that is what I got. I couldn't ask for a better hand held for this low price. Reliable, durable, well made and cheap!

Cheap and functional
I give these calculators to students that have forgotten to bring calculators to my finance exams. I wanted calculators that were cheap but functional. These calculators meet my objectives. The keys aren't too small though the calculator is small (portable). One mistake that I made is that I thought that the calculator was solar powered. It's not solar powered and uses hearing-aid type batteries. I have to be careful to turn the calculators off when I put them away. My sense is that it is easy for them to start if they are jostled in a bag. When the batteries die, I will replace these calculators with solar powered calculators.

Little basic calculator
I bought this to take a state licensure exam. I needed a basic, no frills, calculator. This is super small and with everyone having cell phones there’s really no need to have a calculator, but if you need one for an exam that has no bells and whistles. This is a great choice. It is very lightweight. I have misplaced and found it already because it is so small. Again this is great if you need to have a small plain calculator for an exam. I recommend it.

Not solar (perfect)
I wanted a calculator that was not solar. It's perfect when I'm getting groceries.

Basic functionality but too small for me.
I must say this calculator was way smaller than I expected it to be. Great for maybe kids in elementary school but for an adult it’s way too small. I needed to purchase a calculator for a state exam and I wanted something that I didn’t have to have trouble using or seeing the numbers. For me it had al the basic functions I needed but the size and small screen I didn’t like too much. But for the price I guess I can’t complain too much.
