The A-Z of Careers and Jobs

Excellent reference book with brief descriptions of a huge variety of careers and links to further information. It seems to be aimed more at school leavers and A-level students rather than university students. I’m a Computing & IT undergraduate, and though the information on IT careers is fairly basic, it’s very useful for learning about the people who work in the wider economy, as many unusual careers are covered, such as thatching or working as a farrier. It is sad to see, however, that some bogus careers such as homeopathy and aromatherapy are included. All attempts to legitimise such activities should be resisted strongly.I docked one star because of the inclusion of homeopathy and because many of the web links to industry associations and professional bodies and the like are out of date or when clicked take you to the wrong website altogether.

Very detailed and helpful - but not so much to put off a teenage reader or parent.
