This light-weight pole is by far one of the cutest fishing accessories I've ever purchased for myself. It's small, but that makes it perfect for younger fisher girls who may have trouble controlling a heavier and longer pole. It has a nice bend to it and is suitable for fish under 8 pounds. Anything above 10 pounds can get a bit too rough for this pole. I've caught a few larger pike with it, but had a lot of trouble keeping them on the line (while not breaking the pole in half). I live in Alaska and we have a pretty unique array of fish. This pole works great for grayling! It's the perfect weight for them. It also works nicely for white fish and 'dolly trout' (not sure what they're actually known as- that's a local name). It's a bit too small for king salmon, coho salmon, lush, and larger pike.The handles are very comfortable and obviously made for women and young girls. They have a spongey yet grippable feel that make them perfect for all kinds of weather. They don't get cold in colder weather, and they don't get slippery in wet weather. They're just right.The rod part is a dark pink color with gold designs. So cute! But the reel is the highlight of this pole! It's also a pink color with gold accents. But the awesome part is that it lights up when you 'wind it'! Kids LOVE this feature! It has a sort of sparkly fireworks appearance with red, green, and yellow lights. Even I, as an adult (okay, kid at heart), LOVED this feature! It makes catching a fish all the more exciting. Not only are you reeling it in, you're glittering lights too! Love that!This pole is definitely girly and oh-so-cute. It'd be a great way to get younger girls excited about fishing. Wish it was a bit more durable for heavier fish, but for younger kiddos and small fish it's just about right.

I was excited when I first receieved the rod. It was lite weigh and the color was awesome. Initially, I thought the reviews about the thing breaking was overly exaggerated and was impressed with the quality. I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I was when the handle of the reel broke the first day, and there was not a fish on the line! It appears that the screw simply fell out of the handle and there was no way to reinsert the little pin back into the hole. It was frustrating and disappointing. However, I believe the response or lack of the response from the company was more disappointing than the rod breaking. I immediately reported the incident and received an email with a return label, within the required 24 hours. What I didn't receive, which is disappointing, was an apology, or a were sorry for the inconvenience from the company - just an email from UPS with the return information. Maybe they have too many customers to be courteous enough to say - I'm sorry, we apologize. Anyway, I'm sending the combo back and because of the customer service or lack of customer service, I won't buy anything else from this company.

good rod & reel for beginner. My daughter (age 5) has learned to cast the pole and is mastering the steps to become an accomplished fisher"Kid." I would recommend this to people who want a rod for their child who loves pink colored fishing equipment and lights to start out with. The only negative for my daughter was the reel is a little stiff to click the bail over and begin reeling the cast.

My little girl would settle for nothing less than a pink fishing pole...and one that flashes? I surrender! At least it was enough to spark an interest in one of my favorite pastimes...

Saw one of these being used by a young mother at a lake near our home. Thought of gifting one to my grand-daughter for her 12th birthday. Got some negativity from wifey, but when my grand-daughter opened up her present she was overwhelmed. WEhatever it takes to get 'em outdoors is fine with me. good price here on Amazon.

The reel is awesome and it lights up when you reel. The rod broke the first day and seems to be made of cheap material but the reel was worth it.

I absolutely love my new fishing pole. It's pink and it lights up, what more can a girl ask for! I was pleasantly surprised with the line that it came with, I had originally plans on replacing that right away but there was no need.

The reel wouldn't work when I first tried to cast it. Reeling in caused the line to tangle. Very resistant. I double checked my setup and it was fine. Contacted the seller and was told to contact the manufacturer. They gave me the number. I called and was told they didn't make this. I just contacted Amazon. I'm so done. I have ordered from a different seller. Sticking with Zebco!
