awesome books, great tools!
I purchased these on amazon because they were priced cheaper than what my church was selling them for. I love these books for taking people through the 12-steps because everything is neatly packed into 4 books. No need to be carrying around folders of loose paper and notebooks of scribblings and thoughts. Each book contains the serenity prayer (full length), the CR principles and the 12 steps, and guidelines. Each chapter starts with the step/principle being addressed and explains that step using bible verses and an acrostic for easy memorisation. All chapters end with questions to think and pray over as you look at your life and what you have been through and done.I've done my steps once already and am going through them a second time now and I love how simple and organised these books are. I love the questions they ask and the bible verses it uses.My only issue is that some of the bible verses come from bible translations that are rarely used or are just not the best translation, but if you are doing your step work with your bible with you, it's not a big problem. I find that most of the verses used I know already so I can read them as I know them (from the ESV or NIV translation) and it doesn't cause me any issue. But this really is only an issue for someone coming to the CR steps with foreknowledge of the bible as opposed to someone with limited or no biblical background.

This is the best program I have thus far and has accomplished more ...
I have gone through the "Brand New You" program which is under the name of Celebrate Recovery. When I first started in the program, due to too many hurtful experiences, the rest of the members did not know what to do with me. It is hard to face yourself and half of the participants dropped out the program. At the end, I had made such a progress that the rest of the group could not believe it! I would really encourage you to start a group with an qualified leader. This is the best program I have thus far and has accomplished more than the any other small groups which I had attend in 10 years. I did hear different stories when the small group leader did not went through the process and kind of does it as it goes. It is not effective at all. The best setting is to have different church members to form a small group, this way the participants have a lot less worried about the secrets of their life leak out. I am ordering the booklets again because my friends who saw the result of my changes, wanting to take it to their church in Canada. I've done it once between 2007 - 2008. The new program seems to offer more, I would like to take a look into it.

Review of CR Participant's Guide Set
I had already been familiar with this set as other people in my group have them. The program itself is Secular and this set by John Baker, brings it into a Christian perspective, which I need. My Higher Power, is my God. The only way I can relate to any of it is to have these guidelines that are from a Biblical view and also supported by Scripture and how to understand from God's point of view, how He is here to help us by the Holy Spirit we all who are saved, have living within us. It is the best tool for someone who is saved and has God as our Higher Power.

Much needed help . . .
This is a much needed program, however in going through these books, I see very little room for allowing the Holy Spirit to do His work. In my opinion, without the Holy Spirit to lead the program and be able to supply input from Him when He directs, the program is leaving out a major component of the healing that is necessary for these people to be even more successful with fewer setbacks. All in all a good program, and great concept but could stand a little tweaking from people who know how to follow the Holy Spirit's leading.

but the books are awesome and doing the group class has been a great ...
I bought these because I signed up at my church to do a twelve step recovery class (classes are available for a variety of reasons, from substance abuse, to food addiction, co-dependency, to past hurts and hang-ups). We are still in the first booklet, but the books are awesome and doing the group class has been a great experience. I would highly recommend these books as well as signing up for the class. You can find a local group at celebrate recovery dot com.

This series is a must have if you are going to do a step study with a CR group or want to work through the steps on your own. I haven't yet completed the step study but I am looking forward to having freedom from addiction.

Celebrate Recovery
I am currently in a step study for Celebrate Recovery. These are the 4 books that we are using. I enjoy CR, and I as well as others can tell a difference in me. It does help and it does work. You just have to stick with it.

Great Recovery tool
For those in recovery looking for something much more substantial than AA (or any other group of kind), this is it. Christ and Biblical centered, these study guides used in a group setting really begins to get to the core of our compulsions and puts us in touch with our reasons for compulsion and enhances our self-esteem. In my opinion, this program far exceeds the other programs by utilizing group sharing and the dynamics that come from that and multiple accountability partners that help guide us through the program. I definitely and highly recommend the program and these guides.

Find release from Hurts Habits and Hangups
This 4 book study has helped me in coming to terms with my hurts, habits and hangups. It is a vital part of Celebrate Recovery. I urge anyone who feels stuck in their walk to find a group of like minded hurting men and women ( or teens) to support one another as they make this journey together towards wholeness.
